I over-plan. I buy way too many seeds. I start them a little too early. And then I completely run out of energy mid season because I planted too much.

This is such a great plan for people who are unsure of where to place things. So detailed. I just wanted to add that marigolds are an excellent thing to tuck in the garden. So beneficial.

Hello Brianna, may I ask what state you live in… I am seeing you in this fabulous video with your toque, and wanted to say, same. I live in Montreal, Canada which has experienced 3 consecutive years of slow spring, where we end up a month behind our usual dates, more or less. I fully expect another snow event before we are out of it, just because the wind is so, so cold and it smells like snow out there. And winds from the south east which can drive you mad. Imagine the Santa Anas, but cold, blowing over the glaciers. I wanted to say how valuable I found this video. Seasoned growers and farmers bend to the whims to the weather. Those of us just starting out panic when it looks like last frost dates may be delayed, or things are otherwise so cold and close to freezing that seedlings are not doing well, and maintaining greenhouse conditions is just crazy. Fry during the day, freeze at night. Your video is very reassuring and I am sure has helped many of your viewers to hold the course and persevere with their garden plans, even if many people have moved to Plan B or even Plan C to make things work this year. You are very talented. Thank you for your very considerable contribution to the gardening world. 🇨🇦

The "overwhelmed" factor is so real!! I started gardening last summer. It was my first attempt ever, and my watermelons got some sort of rot and we only got a few potatoes. None of my other seeds grew. Still not sure why. But everything else was in containers. So I've been trying to break up the clay so more things can go straight into the ground.

I love it!! I spend the winter in Florida, then head back to northern lower Michigan toward the end of April. I am zone 5. Sooo when I get home I have a lot of work to do to prepare the yard for whatever I intend to grow. It’s sooo good to know that there are things that I can direct sow and also have some time to start certain things from seed indoors! I absolutely appreciate all of the information that you make time to share 😊Thank you so very much Bri!!

Nice to finally find a gardener here in my zone! Thanks so much for your help, this is something I was really struggling with. I’m trying my hand at square foot gardening again, and am just overwhelmed at what to put in my 2.5’x 3.5’ raised beds (house is on the East of these 2 beds,on the 3.5 ft side, so no morning sun) and 2’x10’new in ground bed, (fence on the South 10” side). I have seedlings I’ve grown for everything in this video you mentioned except cucumbers, and also lots of Pak choi, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and lots of pepper plants as well. I also plan to do my bush squash and winter squash in containers, as well as watermelons and cantaloupes in containers or in ground in other flower beds. Any suggestions for placement on these? Oh, I also have a 2’x3’ raised garden bed as well. I will be watching your other videos now! Thanks for any help, I loved your video!

I love all of your garden plan videos! Your choices and placement of plants is very thoughtful. For me, shallots or green onions might be a good substitute for bulbing onions, which I personally struggle to grow to a good size. As far as flowers go, I grow buckwheat in my veggie beds. It's pretty, attracts pollinators, grows really quickly, and I find that the root system is very small so it both doesn't fights with plants around it for nutrients, and is easily pulled out even in harder soils once it's done flowering. I am always happy to see it self seed :)

I think I’m going to suggest this to my girls for their individual garden boxes. They will each be getting their own 8x4 box this spring (we just built 24 so I have lots of space to fill…). I have many varieties of all these plants so they could individualize that way. They want to sell at our very tiny, local farmers market and I feel like we could have a really good variety using this plan. I also have plenty of time to start some peppers from seed so we could sub out some of the onions or potatoes and have a little salsa garden component.

thanks Bree. this is my first time planting a garden and I am feeling overwhelmed. but I've been watching your videos and made a bunch of starts with soil blocks and used your recipe. it was hard to find wool pellets, so I ordered some, but then I potted up with a different recipe using the coconut coir and something that the garden center said I could use instead of green sand because they didn't have it. learning as I go! I'm getting ready to put them outside in the soil but I don't have any raised beds or anything.

Thanks ❤

Just a quick question, someone once told me you shouldn't plant potatoes and tomatoes next to each other because it will result in green potatoes and your tomatoes will struggle?
