Mild steel quenched in water is fine. Also, Look into case hardening with clay, might interest you.

@@dylanodoherty9702 sorry for the late reply I really really hate KZread they don't tell me anyone replied, I was actually balking at doing a differential hardening on some arrowheads I did, I've attempted it on some trade points with refractory clay, worked well, took a moose and the heads buried into trees after passing through my target, found them all twisty in my wood stove, arrowshafts shattered lol

What kind of steel do you use? Carbon or just mild steel and do you hardening them?

I think you can use mild steel or without hardening, if you want to make many and fast, but if you want good quality arrowheads, that don't bend at each shoot, it's better to harden them and use proper steel. I do so

@@PermireFabrica I was hardening only point of arrowhead that isn't very thin, just heating point with blowtorch until it's not magnetic anymore and quench in water or oil, for arrowhead it doesn't make big difference. After that i tempered them, again with blowtorch heating up middle part until point gets blue color

hi Permire Fabrica, I use traditional technology that is not in the video. It is carburization in a mixture of coal. The tips are then flexible inside and hard on the surface.( sorry for using google translate).

Hi Jo Se, Yes, it is a 1.7 mm thick steel sheet. However, it is not hardened steel.

try using the same ammount of blows on each side, if you can try to invest in a grinder/ files to touch it up after you finish forging

Your bow style shooting why do you learn forward like you do and bended knee shooting your arrows ? , very unusual for shooting arrows .

Have a design of some arrowheads. Can you reproduce? They are the ones pictured on the front of the book Agincourt by Bernard Cornwell. I want 6, to fit 1/2’ shafts. Have tried emailing but address is not recognised.

@@michalfranko4389 How do you wrap them so nicely? The socket for shaft looks almost like it was welded or turned on lathe.Do you flaten it to 1mm thick/5° taper? I tried to make couple of arrows myself but socket never looks as nice ,there is a hole in the middle.

You forgot a step , most people do when making the socket ,if you flatten and square it up.at the same time you don't have to grind the end
