I feel like it could have been a bit straighter angle, with longer handle/pole so you don't have to bend your back that much. None the less an amazing work man.

I noticed the same man, like that he will hurt his back, still he's doing a wonderful work
@TSC_Miles

I thought that too about the angle; though looking back at it, it seems the soil has a lot of little rocks, and building it like that allows to really get them/shoveling them out; while if it was straight, it could perhaps roll over them? Not sure guess I'd have to see a comparaison

For a job such as this (pulling soil towards corn plant) a shorter handle is more suitable for the job. It's more controllable so you don't risk cutting the plant instead
@user-rh3to9cu4x
4 жыл бұрын
@@TSC_Miles nah, my family and I always leave some corn not treated with chemicals(for bread) so we do exactly this what he's doing in the video. Once my handle broke but the job had to be done, so i just cut of the handle where it broke, refited it and finished the job. My back was hurting so much. And also it is easier to cut the plant whith sharper angle like this one in the video, but after a while you get trained/used to it and you won't cut the plant no matter how steep the angle of your hoe is. So it's basically boils down to what you prefer, and I personally prefer to to avoid bending my back as much as possible.

Leftist msm blowing it out of proportion, how many ppl die from flu? Can't waist a scare to blame Trump
@ManicPandaz
4 жыл бұрын
@David This is a global pandemic, not a simple flu. You know the Spanish Flu killed 50 million people? Not all virus are equal. Don’t think a bad strain of the flu can’t kill millions. Your American president has nothing to do with it. Don’t let your political biases get in the way of medical advice. Things are serious.

@ManicPandaz
4 жыл бұрын
@David Listen to the doctors. The Spanish Flu had a mortality rate of under 3%, it killed 50 million. The mortality rate of Covid-19 is between 1-3% depending on estimates. You have to remember that those suffering from Covid-19 are currently getting immediate treatment. If people that have Covid-19 got the same level of treatment as people that have the flu, many more would die. The mortality rate is currently being limited. Covid-19 has been shown to infer little to no immunity after infection, meaning those that have recovered can get sick again. This virus is from another species. Our immune system has no idea how to fight it. Also the farther this spreads and the more people infected, the higher chance of a mutation that increases lethality. Viruses are always changing. It was actually the second wave of the Spanish Flu that acquired a more lethal mutation that killed the most people. Think of virus as a fire. If you leave fires uncontrolled, they will spread and burn you house down. The most important thing is to limit the spread in a global civilization where anyone can cross the planet in a single day. Action is needed. It’s being responsible. We have to be responsible.
Interesting project you have going. I admire the patience and fortitude you display.
After the iron age, I think it will be interesting if you try to make you clothes and traditional fabrics with ancient artisanal technics. You can answer différents problematic like : - How to create pigments with organic and mineral local ressources ? - How to choose and explain the différence between all fiber, (vegetal, organic, etc..), that may be used to make fabrics ? - How to make a loom and how to use it and create decorative pattern ? - Witch materials that may be used to create needle (like bone, wood or iron) ? - How to dye fabrics ? etc... I would like to see you making artisanal art and I think it's a good way to show an evolution on your civilization (with the creation of your "own" culture).

Some blacksmithing tips here: 1. You have a need of a slightly heavier hammer on the initial shaping of the metal. It would cut down on the number of swings you are having to do to shape the metal. 2. You would also move more metal (with fewer swings) if you would move the metal out to the edge of your anvil (rock). This would cause the metal to be pinched between the hammer blow and the rock causing more metal to move. This would allow you to shape it quicker.

Hey love what your doing man! If i could make a suggestion, if you make some rope and wrap it several tikes around the stone you use as an anvil it may take away the ting noise and vibration and allow for a more precise strike.

Maestro, brilliant job with the forging. Its nice to see that your garden is flourishing as well. Have you considered making compost-bin? With all the weeds, leafs and other stuff that will come out of your garden and the surroundings, you could take advantage of that and make a natural fertilizer. Nature will do the job. Keep up the good work! Regards from Norway
My friend - soon it will be time to get yourself some better iron production! Look into creating a magnet with an iron rod, and use that to separate crushed iron particles from normal crushed rock! While you may not be ready to have propane to help smelt without a bloomery, coal is already much hotter than charcoal and can easily allow for simpler bloomery refining. Look into finding some coal near you! We may not know if you are faking the creation of the bars but we sure will when you can make them on camera! This is by far the best primitive channel out there! Thank you for everything you do and all the hard work you put into your videos! Seeing you in my KZread notifications is super awesome! Thanks!

I greatly admire what this guy is doing and I love his channel. I agree that he must be getting the iron bars from a vendor, and I'm okay with that. He has shown he can mine and smelt the ore and extract the iron, but I have a small problem with the transition - he did not show a transition from a very impure cake to a proper bar suitable for forging these tools. I do not believe he made the hammer and other first tools from the iron he extracted. I would like to see him go back and show that this can be done. I'm okay with him continuing to source iron stock from elsewhere, as long as he shows me it is possible for him to make such a piece of raw bar stock using methods he has shown. In my opinion, he only needs to show this once, but he needs to go back and do it without skipping this step. The man has my respect already, this will magnify it to a great esteem... not that he requires this of me!
