Forging Eddie's Head - Part 1 - Thak Ironworks Chess Set Challenge 2020
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
#blacksmith #blacksmithing #thakironworkschess
In this video of our continuing series of forged heads, I tackle the iconic Eddie character from Iron Maiden. This video is also the first official video in our chess set series, wherein, I will make an entire chess set utilizing a wide variety of forged and or fabricated heads ( and sometimes bodies) of human/animal sculpture. With the Eddie head, I use traditional forge techniques and start with the basic process I use while making a skull.

Took my 19 year old son to see Iron Maiden on 8-24-19, in Indianapolis IN. He got to see a real rock concert! Now he's a Bruce Dickinson FAN!
Been watching a bunch of online blacksmiths for years and your stuff is on a whole 'nother level brother. Especially in sculptural terms.

Welcome aboard
By chance had on my Thak T-shirt today... Agree with the killers Eddie, that is the Icon. Although I would have chosen the Trooper Eddie too. You're dead on. I was holding off watching this as I have other projects going on and seeing this is gonna jack them all up.... This is the most exciting smithing project I have seen anywhere on KZread!
GS tongs sent me here ! I thought well if Glenn gives you high regards then I will check you out!. Glad I did! Subbed because of this video , Iron Maiden fan from way back in the day!! Peace!🤘
I followed your lead and actually made a pretty awesome skull! Thanks for sharing Sir.
I really like your sculpting videos. Definitely going to try it when I get some time
Metal as fuck. Its amazing

Love the Monster Magnet shirt!! Oh yeah. Cool Eddie too. Lol
Totally awesome hellyeah saweet
Awsome again man
Hearing ooops, I'm unsure or struggling as well as how long it is taking is really encouraging to me... As I get there far too often, and sometimes give up. So hearing that you have same issues, is a huge bolster to my own confidence.... Really helpful and most of all honest. Up the irons man!
could you do a video on your punches and how they were made or were you got them from. love your videos

Just forged my first few skulls today, it really confused me when I saw this after searching forever for sculpting videos this morning.
Отличная работа! Уважение мастеру!
Awesome stuff, love it! Great research to have to do though 😉 Although it was slated by many, I liked the X-Factor Eddie imagery the best, really brought him to life for me - loved the album too, still play it.
Hi Thak, new subscriber, came on over from a Gary Houston video. I really like "Eddie as a Bishop" the lobotomy line reminds you of a "monk's tonsure" 🤔😉
As I watched I more fully understand the preliminary caution that Eddy isn't really a begginer piece. All in all I think it turned out to be really good. Detail is pretty much spot on even though you say slightly elongated. Bravo well done my good Thak. LMBO 🙏 Blessed be sirSir Crawford out ⚒️🧙♂️

Awesome as usual! While working on black heat do you have any trouble with chipping the metal? That’s what I’ve experienced. Maybe I’ve let it cool too much.
Have you considered upsetting the end and then forging it back on itself like a mushroom? this could be a good blank for a face
Супер!!!!))))
It is impressive to get as many details sculpted in iron, congratulations as always. How do you get iron to not get cold when you put it on the anvil?
@ThakIronworks

As it is a thicker piece it retains heat for longer. No special tricks.
Wonderfull, have you ever forged a complete skeleton? I have made a few skulls after i saw Your video, thank you.
I notice you are using short chisel and punches do you find more control that size.
what about vic from megadeath

What’s a guy gotta do to get one of these from you? I’d like to say I’ll try to do one myself, but I’m sure it’ll just end up looking like Mr Potato head.

You just have to get in and give it a crack mate. When this video came out, I hadn't done any sculptural work and, 8 months later, I contributed a pawn to the project. My video will be out next week
