I love the fact that you kept the footage of fixing the drill press in this. It's very humanizing, and for all that I LOVED the entire thing (as I do every single one of your videos!!), that was extremely charming and funny to me. Also, this might be my single favorite sword you've ever made! Stunning!!

Thanks the funny thing is the broken switch was irritating me for a few years I think. Only now I got to open it up and found out it was a, easy fix.

'When I pulled my sword, it sang, it cried for its new scabbard to be the chest of the barbarian hordes opposed to me. It sang to beg that it be set free to cleave the limbs off my enemies. It sang that it was forever thirsty and to slake it's forever thirst, it must be quenched with the blood of my enemies. The blade wailed and wished to bring death. We are legion. We kill for peace.' -Chris Burdett 'We kill, for peace' -1992

I don’t know the history of the blade, but how did you feel about the depth of those finger grooves on the (absolutely stunning) handle? They look like they might get a little sharp on the hand but I wonder how it felt in yours? I love the whole build, gonna share with my roman history nerd friend ;)

It turned out well. But I find it hard to imagine that 2,000 years ago, when high-quality steel was very valuable, blacksmiths could afford to forge a billet twice as thick as needed, only to have half the metal scraped off on a whetstone. But in the modern version, it is a good reproduction, as I said.

“THIS IS a SPATHA!!!” (stabs Emissary Gladioli in the chest, then kicks his dying body into a deep well that, surprisingly, has absolutely no protective wall to prevent people or animals from falling in and contaminating the water).

The hilt of the Roman sword is short so that the hand is tightly fixed between the guard and the pommel. this makes it possible to precisely control the sword. The hilt of this sword does not fix the hand. a beautiful, but not historical product.
