Forging a KATANA - How to forge a special gold-plated version katana
Owning a KATANA sword is the best thing about them, and I am no exception. I made it for myself, a katana with what I imagined in my head. I hope you enjoy it , thanks for watching !

It is correct to put carbon into iron, but since it is not forged, the metal components are not uniform. If you use too many machines for sharpening, micro cracks will appear.
amazing build, very creative, beautifly crafted project. tip from a fellow bladesmith, forge the blade straight and quench blade down in water with the clay on the edge to get the bend and a clean hamon on the blade. keep up the good work :)

Katana=日本刀と言われる現在です。 この動画で作った物はKatanaに似せた剣ですね。 日本刀は多くの工程を経て作られます。 鉄塊を伸ばし、半分に折ってから重ねてまた伸ばすを何度も繰り返します。そうすると鉄塊から不純物が取り除かれ純粋な鉄に近づきますが、純粋な鉄は柔らかいです。 酸素と鉄の化合物の鋼と鉄を合わせます。 柔らかい鉄と硬い鋼を混ぜる事で弾力と硬さを得た理想のKatanaが作れます。 曲った部分は鉄が冷えた力を利用して曲げます"エビを茹でると曲がる原理と同じ"

Anybody knows what the black mass is for he applies on the blade at 3:45? I thought it creates the color later (is it acid), but it covers the whole sword right?

great job man i think for more authenticity that red leather could have been changed for rayskin since helps in the grip. also you forgot the mekugi ( little decorations that goes under the wrap in the handle).
