Forget Rolex, Forget Audemars Piguet … This is the Luxury Sports Watch To Have | Watchfinder & Co.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

It’s not often you stumble across something truly special when it comes to watchmaking, and by that, I mean discover a great watch no one else really seems to be talking about. Usually, if it’s anything worth mentioning, everything’s already been said-take the Code 11.59 from Audemars Piguet or the Odysseus from A. Lange & Söhne, for example. But in the case of the H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds, however, here’s a luxury stainless steel sports watch that seems to have slipped under the radar-that just might be one of the very best.

Yup, I own one of these. I was shown it in a London AD a couple of years ago -- having not known that HMC even made steel cases. Fifteen minutes after discovering its existence I left the AD with it on my wrist. "Sports watch"? Maybe. Large, rugged and possessed of decent WR it is. However, it is also beautiful -- HMC fumé dial and slim bezel (small watches pretending to be macho by sporting acres of "porthole" bezel do little for me). It has the additional advantage (not mentioned in the video) of obscurity. HMC makes only about 1,500 units per year in total, so it is very unlikely that you'll find several in any given bar -- which I like.

It is indeed an amazing piece, and it works perfectly as an every day casual utilitary watch, at least for me. I own a green one and I absolutely love everything about it. People have no idea what to think about it, that makes it more confortable to wear and enjoy with out energy drain.

@@riojimatsuoka well lots of fakes out there but you have a valid point. Aspirational working class and middle class can afford steel Rolex - hence the massive demand - but not so much Two time or all precious metal watches. The draw with Rolex is there will always be a buyer. Other brands attract wealthier clientele or watch nerds who don’t mind the prospect of losing half their money should they sell. Cartier, Breitling, Zenith even JLC all fall away on the secondary market. Rolex stay strong come what may.

It's a dream of a daily driver watch, notably the dome glass puts it on the formal side. Specs are great, you wouldn't guess the 72h power reserve and water resistance by its low profile. Clean no date dial, nice lume and the fume match with the retro logo is madness. I have it in red. The coolest version was by far the gold with grey dial from launch, too bad I was a watch infant then and couldn't claim it. I agree with some previous comment, the metal finishing is not top tier, like the price. Then again, it's... "very rare". Love it.

    H. Moser & Cie has been consistently trending on watch forums for the past few years already. To claim that many watch enthusiasts don't know of the brand, or are unaware of their quality is kind of hard to believe.

I feel like all the major watch dealer either stocked many H. Moser watches, have a stake on the company, or are getting pay a lot for marketing. The amount of media coverage for these watches is not “normal”, specially for what they offer, nothing special imo.

I do love the ramblings, despite the comments, but I would also love to know more about this actual watch, just when I thought we were getting to it from the ‘macro-teasing’ the video ended. 🥺

That is definitely a dual purpose timepiece by the use of luminous hands it removes it from the totally dress watch category plus the the size makes it more contemporary it's either a love or hate thing with the rubber strap but I always personally never follow the crowd

120m water resistance, stainless steel case, rubber strap/SS bracelet are more than enough to be a luxury sports watch. Don’t forget that RO only has 50m water resistance and it’s a luxury sports watch “icon”.

Where is this watch made? This video didn't capture me so I didn't see all of it...Firstly, it didn't say " swiss made" on the dial and secondly, the movement seemed a bit coarse....

Given the very small number of watches manufactured each year by HMC, the inventory is quite unlikely to be "huge". But, business is business 😉
