@@slovnicurling9808 The lug being opposite would not damage the blade, or how you swing it. The issue was they used the Lug as a guide for the edge and not the blade. Thats a user issue not the design issue. Honestly his answer is correct. If the blade cuts into the boar, and the lugs are not much wider than the initial width of the blade, they can easily run up the shaft. His design would go against that and create a far more secure spear that would prevent the boar from just ripping its wound a little wider to get to you.

The basic idea of the lugs being across the blade seems sound, but most likely what would happen on a deep strike is they'll slip in under the hide on the sides of the cut and deprive you of your weapon. You can push much harder than you can pull, cross-cut lugs will slip in there like a the button on a shirt. If you're stripping a shield you also lose the capability of getting a slash when you swipe downwards. Medieval weapons were often like regulations... designed (written) in blood. They were the way they were because alternate designs failed in some way, and the stakes here are very high.

As that would be incredibly hard to do to make a wound swallow more than a inch of a parallel lug you are ripping a massive hole in the beast. going from - to x is not easy. However going from - to _ Is much easier as ripping a wound an inch on the edges of a cut simply requires the skin to rip or tear. To go into an X it requires a lot more force and effort. Clayton's shaft is shorter but I like his idea of putting the wings lower. It could make the spear tip penetrate deeper into a boar before reaching the wings and thus inflict more damage. The shorter shaft, while it means less distance between you and the boar you stick, is more stable and maneuverable. Overall, if I'm hunting a boar with a spear, his craft would be my choice.

Depends on how you're huntin. With dogs holding the boar down while you strike it? Or letting the boar charge at you and impale itself? For the second you definitely nee wide strong wings, or tis gonna run through it and slice you open

Not a fan that they didn't explain why Clayton's spear wasn't as good as Allen's. I mean, the seem to preform quite similar, he had a cool idea with handle perpendicular so that there was no way a boar could run through and he looked like he could use the money way more. Plus, the one guy had a warp in his spear shaft!? If you're supposed to make a boar hunting spear, the shaft plays an important role and a warped shaft like that is more likely to break, and the boar gore you.

Well first of all, it's not a sword, it's a spear. Second of all, the bend wasn't in the blade, it was the handle, and it wasn't a bend that made it unusable or unwieldable, the blade was SHARP af, it was sturdy, and it kept the original design.
