I love how expressive the people operating the Dragon puppet made her. That really made this even more awesome to watch.

As much as I like Donkey Pot Pie, I would have liked to have had this as maybe a bonus song for the official soundtrack album. Not only does this have a more timeless feel but... it gives Dragon much more depth.

Shrek | First National Tour | Summer, 2011 | Eric Petersen (Shrek), Sandra Denise (u/s Fiona), Alan Mingo, Jr. (Donkey), David Vaughn (Lord Farquaad), Holly Ann Butler (Wicked Witch/Blind Mouse), Carrie Compere (Dragon), Sandra Denise (Sugar Plum Fairy), Aymee Garcia (Mama Bear/Gingy), Brian Gonzales (Papa Ogre/Straw/Knight/Pied Piper/Bishop), Derek Hanson & Jason Shuffler (King Harold/Big Bad Wolf/Captain/Knight), Benjamin Howes (Papa Bear/Thelonius/Knight), Cara Kem (Baby Bear/Blind Mouse), Denny Paschall (Peter Pan/Guard/Dragon Puppeteer), Sarah Peak (Ugly Duckling/Teen Fiona), Kevin Quillon (Guard/Dragon Puppeteer), Morgan Rose (Shoemaker's Elf/Blind Mouse), Blakely Slaybaugh (Pinocchio/Knight), Tyrone Davis, Jr. & Julius Thomas (Sticks/Guard/Dragon Puppeteer), Hayley Feinstein (Young Fiona), Danielle Soibelman (Young Shrek/Dwarf). The cast was very loveable from start to finish. It was great to see the changes in lyrics and sets from the Broadway run to the Tour. Sandra was a fantastic understudy. She had really great riffs and it was not difficult at all seeing her as Fiona. She had great comedic timing. Eric was pretty good as Shrek. He was a little hard to understand, but other than that he was great. Alan was a perfect Donkey. He really brought the character off the screen. Alan was perfect with his comedic timing. Although at sometimes seemed as if he was trying to upstage everyone. Carrie has a powerful voice. Her "Forever" literally sent shivers down my spine. Includes the curtain call. The DVD was filmed in a 16:9 ratio in a combination of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The only obstruction is a head in the very middle of the screen and one off to the side. Both are only visible in the wides. They are shot around as best a possible. The heads are only there in the wides and only really noticeable during the first act. There are kind of a lot of blackouts, due to this being my second master and the ushers walking up and down the rows. There are four main blackouts that last between 1 minute to 7 minutes. Other than those four major blackouts all the rest are very minor 20-30 second ones. The first act has the second half of the Good Bye Song missing and the second act has the first 2 and a half minutes missing from "Morning Person". There are a couple of washouts that occur. Theyare randomly dispersed so it doesn't affect the video too much. At a couple of times the DVD is a little blurry but other than that it is pretty good. The DVD includes a virtual copy of certain pages of the playbill.
