Chuck in some native edibles mate. quandong and sandlewood trees, there is also a native orange. Hard to get cause they were all cut down. Also I would pump in acacias around your chook yard. A good one is golden wattle. Its a heavy seeder it will feed your chooks for free :) high protein. Also it bring in cockatoos. Which will bring in fertility and seeds.

G'day Jamie. This is fantastic mate. Your knowledge is excellent and I hope to learn a lot from you. Good stuff about the all year flowering. This is something I need to consider more here. Thanks for the inspiration. George is one handsome dude! All the best mate. Daz.

It’s very easy to find native plants that flower outside of the normal spring/summer. I plan to have bees someday, so I have been selecting trees outside of the normal jarrah and marri that flower in winter too.

When I was a teenager my parents bought a piece of land with a steep 180 foot hill that was badly eroded. I began planting with poplar and maple. I got only a 10% survival rate, but with 5 years we'd established a viable forest and saved the hill.

I just bought The Earth Restorer’s Guide to Permaculture and am so in love. I’d like to implement more permaculture practise when we eventually move - dunno if I’ll have much time to do it at our current place - though it wouldn’t hurt as I think some permaculture practices here would make a huge difference. But because we’re sort of, thinking of that one foot out the door mentality I’d rather be prepared to do it once we move on, whenever hat is. Still won’t stop me from doing some regeneration where I can here though.

@@LuckyFigFarm we’re staying in Queensland but heading to the South West of just outside the South East corner. We’re from Melbourne originally and are mulch more used to the dryer summers. The place we’d like to move to is much cooler weather and has seasons!

In the burned abandoned farms from Portugal I heard Eukalyptus is very bad. Need a lot of water for fast growing. Oaks and oders are better!!!

Yes, eucalyptus are the main tree species in Australia. They are flammable due to a high oil content. They evolved this way as they need fire to re-seed. Thanks for watching!
