Man. The smell of death aint no joke. My Dad passed away from diabetes and we wound up going to go see him to say our goodbyes. Soon as you hit the floor his room was in, the stench hit your nose almost immediately. For him to have died just a few hours prior....I can't IMAGINE what type of smells these types of people have to fathom on a daily basis. They are literally picking up corpses that have been dead for WEEKS.

My bro was homeless again, so went to mom's. He went to bed & stayed there. It wasn't unusual for him to sleep long periods during times of upheaval. On day 2, she kinda knew, but was maybe afraid to admit it? The coroner came, they removed the body. I cleaned up the mattress & puddles of body fluids. It didn't effect me so much at the time, but later, when I was near lake Erie before a storm, & I could smell the fish & seaweed... I realized it smelled like that. This was just a couple weeks ago. I'm still sad & working thru this.

I love my cats so much that if I died and no one noticed for a while, they had no food out, and needed to eat, I wouldn't care if they ate me unless that meant they'd be euthanized... Then I definitely don't want them to stay alive by eating me.

When I was a kid my dad was asked to come clean the neighbor's house after the neighbors Grandpa shot himself in the living room. He did it too. Seemed to bother him. I remember he said he got all done cleaning everything up and did a final check and was just about to leave and decided to look on top of the fridge which was like 30 ft away to make sure there's no blood or anything and found about a 2-in piece of skull with hair on it still. 😳

I was chatting with a guy who was part of a team cleaning my house after one of the bedrooms had caught fire. After the room had been remodeled, the cleanup crew was brought in to get rid of the smoke smell that remained throughout my house. I learned that the guy had previously worked for a company that did crime scene cleanup. He told me that with suicides involving firearms, biological material is everywhere...even behind crown/trim molding and inside electrical outlets. He said it was rough.

I hardly think life in prison is "pointless." It is very much the opposite, especially to victims of violent crimes and/or surviving loved ones. In fact, many people see the death sentence as an easy way out; a mercy that wasn't shown to the victim. So, to say life in prison should come with the choice to opt out is ridiculous and ignorant beyond belief. It's like that person doesn't get the concept of consequences or punishment. Smh...

I'm sure it depends on who you ask. I personally would love to see someone who has hurt me and my family get the death penalty and die. Then finally I'd have a sense of relief knowing they can't magically get released, escape, or have fun in jail eating, breathing and playing cards with jail friends. Most states dont even give people life anymore for killing someone.

The fact that family having to clean up after suicides is so disturbingly common that it should dissuade anyone from actually pulling the trigger on themselves, like I can't imagine putting my family through that. Also I've heard enough of these stories that every time I hear "not found for weeks and in summer" my thoughts immediately go to "Oh no...." Actually, why do I keep listening to these?

  • @breannathompson9094

Some of the ones where it says the person had kids but the kids didnt realize they were dead... there's maybe a reason those people died alone. Not everyone deserves such an ending, but if you have kids and they let you die like this, maybe the issue was you and not the kid. Once i leave my parents home, its byebye due to their abuse and i bet everyone would call me terrible to put them into a situation like that alone... but yeah nah. Sometimes it isn't so sad to me when those particular types of stories occur.

The story about the house full of dead cats reminds me of the time one of the houses in my family's neighborhood - one of the nicer ones in town, with huge lots and homes - was discovered to have contained many dead animals that had been left to fend for themselves. It was in such a horrible state that a decontamination tent had to be pitched around the house to remove the black mold. And the worst part of this case was that this wasn't even the only house the owners had that contained an animal hoarding situation. I don't recall if the owners got jail time.

I saw a documentary on professional clean up crews. They were cleaning out the apartment of a gay man with AIDS who died in the apartment. He was a gay man who was estranged from his family. He apparently stopped taking his medication for AIDS (he was HIV positive). Nobody came forward to claim his possessions, so the cleanup crew just threw out everything. Poor guy was forgotten even in death 😪

Had to repossess a truck in the 80's. The owner had committed suicide in the drivers seat with a shotgun under his chin. The police had impounded the truck for 3 months for "reasons". They never cleaned it. I was going to drive it back to the yard at first, but as soon as I saw the inside of it, I noped out of there. Bank got an extra tow charge added to the job that day. Probably should have towed it straight to the crusher. Have to wonder if the bank resold that truck to someone.
