@@James.G.Ireland Ali was the king of the world! His biggest fans were the British, Middle Easterners and Africans. Growing up in my country as a kid, I saw my big brothers and neighbors Clutching the Newspapers, talking about Cassius Clay has done it again! This was the morning after he had defeated George Foreman! He had been Muhammad Ali for over a decade already. They knew him since he was Clay, they knew him when he beat Liston. When you see videos of him being thronged by thousands in the UK, Middle East, Africa, Pakistan, all over the world, you’ll know he was the King of the world back then. He was so world renowned, he was more known than every world president and leaders. Even Queen Elizabeth. He met everyone! They all loved, admired and adored him! There’s a statue of him in the UK among other places. I’m not sure if your comment was due to not having much knowledge about him, or your just playing around or even being an Ali Hater!

He actually ducked George Foreman by denying him a rematch. It was actually funny the mind games Ali played on George while denying him that rematch. Foreman had split from his trainer Sadler, whom Foreman had come to distrust, partly due to Sadler’s closeness to Ali. Ali told Foreman that he’d give him the rematch on the condition that Foreman rehired Sadler as trainer. Of course Foreman refused, thus there was no rematch.

I agree. Still the greatest, even if you take out the emotional nature of his story from start to finish which I think influences some people. If you look at what he did in the ring, there's nobody who has a comparable record. I think the closest to him is Lennox Lewis, who had every tool needed to beat Ali . Bigger, stronger, huge accurate jab, massive puncher, brilliant combinations and a real ruthless streak . That said would I bet against Ali finding a way to win ? No probably not.

Don’t forget- nobody had even hurt George Foreman before Ali knocked him out. He had downed Joe Frazier 6 times in their fight, and also destroyed Ken Norton. He was terrifying everyone. That ko of Foreman by Ali was an INCREDIBLE combination. To watch it is to be amazed at the man. And George foreman was a fantastic fighter. He came back in 1987, and nobody ever dropped him again in 33 come back fights including Tommy Morrison AND Evander Holyfield. George in fact won the world heavyweight title back in 1994 by knocking out Michael Moorer, when George was 46 years old. But NOBODY stopped George like Muhammad Ali did. You can talk about todays 6’6” giant heavyweights all you want, but Ali was a giant killer, and FAR more skilled, FAR MORE TOUGH than the heavyweights around today. To anyone who knows a damn thing about boxing, Ali is the man, and STILL THE. GREATEST OF ALL TIMES!!! 💥🥊💥🥊💥🥊💥🥊💥🥊💥🥊💥🥊

It's a Myth Ali just laid on the Ropes. He came out Swinging in rounds one and Two, He looked bigger than George, George couldn't throw him about like other opponents. Then Ali realised George's power and used the ropes, interspersed with Quick Combination punches, and getting into Foremans Head belittling and putting Him down. Ali both physically and psychologically defeated George just like He did Liston. He and only He could have defeated either of Them . He definitely laid on the ropes. Anyone watching can see it. What became myth is how Ali supposedly absorbed all this punishment so Foreman could punch himself out. Ali was not in fact absorbing that much punishment. Most of Foreman's punches missed or were deflected, or if they did hit, Ali was rolling with the impact. Very little offense from George was landing solid. Even the body shots were mitigated by Ali grabbing Foreman and tying him up when he tried it. The other thing that has seemingly become myth is how the rope a dope was some big brilliant plan and it wasn't. It was Ali moving to plan B because plan A of dancing away from George wasn't going to work, since George was a master of cutting off the ring, and Ali's legs had been gone for years at this point. So he adapted to the situation. Angelo Dundee was begging Ali to get off the ropes but Ali just said he knew what he was doing. And he obviously did. But that strategy only ever worked against Foreman, at least at the top level (leaving that open because I haven't seen every one of his post Rumble fights so I can't be sure). When he tried it against Smokin Joe in their third fight, it didn't work at all and he quickly abandoned it.

@@FearsEdge You got that right! That’s why he’s the greatest! He knew what style to use for every fight. Those who think Ali took a beating never saw the real fight! They only saw the Ali movie Starring Will Smith. When I watched that movie, I realized why people say that he took a beating! Are they kidding me? Ali handled Foreman like a rag doll. Ali was in control of that fight. Only less than half of Foreman’s punches landed. Most of them missed. Ali’s jabs and straight Rights and lefts were all on point and BEAUTIFUL! I don’t watch boxing a lot! I love Ali’s era and I’ve watched every fight since he fought Floyd Patterson, Sonny Liston, Archie Moore, Ernie Terrel(What’s my Name?). Zora Follie, Jerry Quarry, Cleveland Williams, Jimmy Ellis, Jimmy Young, George Chuvalo, Henry Cooper, all the way to Smoking Joe Frazier,(my second favorite, Ali being my favorite).
