We visited the Karangasem Regency in East Bali, Indonesia and taste tested the local alcohol Arak!

@@thelostboys.travel i think almost all part of Indonesia especially in Bali, Java, and Sumatra has tradition to make sugar from coconut sap called gula jawa/gula merah; and make alcoholic drink called tuak/arak or you can drink directly from it's glorious naturally sweet substance that we called legen/nira.

That' s not nira, from coconut tree is called Tuak. Nira tree it's from sagu tree..in batak nira is same with bagot...it's true???

Hello guys , while you in Indonesia ,you should try this one type of Alcohol in Kalimantan ..Locals call it "Arak Cap Tikus " ...And that is the strongest spirit i ever taste...The aftertaste was very sharp and hard to swallow it down ...

mestinya kopi bali yg lebih banyak dibahas bro karena kopi bali enak dan terkenal, araknya dibahas sedikit saja . Maybve proses produksinya yg banyak dibahas dan uji coba minumnya sedikit saja. Mungkin juga perlu membahas tembakau dan petaninya seperti di wonosobo atau petani padi dan tidur di desa untuk merasakan menjadi petani tembakau, padi, atau penduduk di sekitar hutan dll

Kalo di jogja (bantul) namanya legen, nira dalam bahasa Indonesia. Bahan utama untuk membuat gula jawa/gula merah. Nenek saya dulu pembuat gula merah tradisonal. Sekarang didesa saya sudah tidak ada pembuat gula merah. Bahkan sudah jarang di daerah bantul. Jadi teringat masa kecil, minum legen dari hasil "nderes" (mengmbil nira dari pohon kelapa) kakek..manis2 seger. Tengkiu the lost boys ❤

10:45 Tuak Adalah Nyawa....Tuak is our life is one of the Balinese songs that sung for those who like palm wine Cheers.
This is a great video. I live in Padangbai which is close to that village. The first juice is like a toddy, then the first fermentation is Tuak , then it is distilled to end up with Arak. Unfortunately there are unscrupulous people cutting corners and using bad alcohol to cut it and it's poisonous and has made people blind when they drink it. The Arak from Karangasem is the best because it is usually drank by the locals only. So be careful if you try it in West Bali.

The Arak displayed in this video is safe. Majority of the casualties were put drinking alcohol to the next level by adding poisonous materials such as mosquito repellent spray, etanol ect. I myself can't figure out how to react such thing.
