Perfect Rasgolla is made with very little sugar, which becomes tasteless or sour after 24 hours. But in order to keep the rasgolla edible for a long time, the traders give less milk and use a lot of sugar and fridge.

I was not expecting them to like the sweets because I have heard a lot that Indian sweets outside India are not half as good as what we get here. And maybe the reason they found some of them super sweet is because the chef who made them has a higher threshold for sweetness and personally I can relate to them because I don't like my sweets too sugary, I like eating sweets but they don't have to be soaked in sugar syrup(sweets don't equal sugar syrup)because that just beats flavour of the other spices like cardamom, saffron, etc. And man that rasmalai looked sad! Also, being an Indian I haven't once heard about Egg Halwa until this video!!

Even in India, the taste gets bad when you start moving away from the state or city where the dish has originated. Rasgullas are an absolute nightmare in many places outside bengal , it's rubbery and tasteless. North Indian cities don't get the hang of basic South Indian dishes like Idli , sambar, chutney etc. Chaat in UP is heaven and nowhere else have I found that taste.

Rasgulla is too sweet.
My favourite is rasmallai but only if it is made very creamy and not too sweet. Too often the texture is too similar to rasgulla. I’m Indian and it drives me crazy our desserts are often killed with way too much sugar. Same with gulab jamun. It can be incredible when it’s made fresh and not too sweet. Almost impossible to find it made this way. If I buy it from a shop, I soak it in milk to squeeze out a lot of the sugar syrup, then bake it in the oven until it’s warm and a likely crispy on the outside. So good.
I love .... Najib's Smile 🥰🥰🥰

Rasgulla is looooowww!!!
Did you inform them that the Bengalis first squeeze out the sugar syrup before popping rosagulla in? Jut dumping the dishes before them is no good. Explain how they are traditionally eaten so they can relish it correctly. Also, please, please PREPARE yourself about the dish so that you can clearly explain to them when asked. Not preparing the answer means you are also GUESSING and searching for the correct description on the fly. Looks real bad and leaves people wondering whats going on? I also give the participants all kinds of wrong notions about the food they are eating. Very unprofessional to not be prepared with the answers after they have made their guesses. When I tell someone Ande ka halwa, I also explain Ande = Eggs, Ka = of, Halwa = "how it is prepared and its consistency". They had no idea how the rosagulla was made, how the malai of rasmalai differed from that and the fact that both of them are kind of desi cheeses, like paneer. When people realise how many subtle variations come out of just milk, they appreciate the depth of Indian cuisine. But the way it is explained (or NOT explained!), they have nearly no idea of the depth of our cuisine. Disappointing, really. Have a structure to your answers so it completely and correctly tells them what it is, how it is made and how it is eaten. That is a professional approach. We Indians have a very lax, chalta hai approach to everything!
