Bulaklak term it means flower but is the salivary gland of the pig the chiharon bulaklak

What Mike did - topping the pork and chicharon bulaklak in Lugaw is the way I do it as well.

Thought I heard Mike was a practicing Catholic in the other episode. Now, this being at the height of Lenten observance in the country, censure from the abstinence police can be expected and partaking of the forbidden delights added to his transgressions. 🤣

Lugaw takes me back down to sweet memory lane with my dad. When I was a kid, my dad will pick my sister and I up from school then drive us to his latest discovery of a "Lugawan" place. Each of us has a bowl of lugaw plus pork barbeque then sago gulaman drink to wash it all down with. Eating lugaw was our sort of bonding moments together. My dad passed away many years ago. Whenever lugaw is mentioned, it always takes me to a happy memory. :)

Maybe Lugaw is what we all need during this ECQ!!! It’s definitely my comfort food during cold and dreary days. Lugaw with lots of chicken, fried garlic, ginger and green onions is how I like it! Theres something about Lugaw that you crave for when you’re sick, too.

As far as I know, Lugaw is rice porridge with ginger, roasted garlic and slices of hard boiled egg; Goto is also rice porridge with pork innards (lamang loob ng baboy); and Arroz Caldo (Spanish term) is rice porridge with ginger, somewhat yellowish, and with chicken (caldo) slices.

Nelly describes it exactly how I would describe it. It's the best comfort food. It's something that would remind me of home specially during rainy seasons. I love you both.

Lugaw is a plain rice porridge. Goto is a porridge with ox tripe. Arroz caldo, derived from spanish word “Arroz” meaning rice. -rice porridge with chicken. 🍲

They call it sopas with spring onion, ginger, chicken and egg, it is ideal for sick person suffered from high fever.

Arroz caldo( rice soup) becomes chicken arroz caldo when you put chicken on it, becomes goto when we put the tripe of a cow instead of chicken. Just plain rice soup is called lugaw. Add chocolate powder and milk, becomes champorado. 😊😊 enjoy

When lugaw has chicken we call it -arroz caldo When lugaw has beef or beef innards we call it - Goto Bottomline the soup base is still Lugaw, it’s just the different types of mixtures or toppings that changed the name

Arroscaldo is a spanish word means ricesoup..but with filipini creativity in food they created lots of varieties just like what you just had,you can order either with boiled egg,chicken meat,chicharon,tofu,or just ain lugaw or rice pouridge.

well in my province here, lugaw simply means rice porridge with nothing on it. just plain rice. it's essential cuz it's made of rice, rice is life for us Filipinos.

Of course lugaw is essential! It is my "go to" comfort food here in Toronto. I prepare a huge pot, cool it and stash in my ref. I reheat it when I come home from work to satisfy my hunger and craving for this Filipino food. Lugaw's base is plain rice porridge, then there is a wide range of additional ingredients you can add, e.g., flaked chicken, pork and cracklings, tofu, eggs, spring onions, etc. Yum!

Suddenly i have this crazy idea of opening up a lugaw eatery and i'm going to name it "Essentialugaw" 🤪

I must admit, I didn't like lugaw at first but now I like it! Esp. the homemade one. The way it is done and all the things you can put in it esp. chicharon! Makes me crave it now even it's not rainy season. Glad you guys featured it!

Lugaw is rice porridge garnished with fried garlic, chopped spring onions and sliced hard boiled egg as toppings and with s squeeze of kalamansi added to complete the flavor. Arroz Caldo is the same but small chops of chicken is sauteed with garlic and onions with patis sauce before adding the rice then add water, boil until the rice gets cooked. The toppings are the same to that of Lugaw. You may add ground white pepper.

lugaw is definitely essential as making it happen vlog is 😍👌😂 definitely made my day, nice vlog!

When I was still in college, porridge was my go -to when I didn't have a food budget. That's what crossed me to graduate from college because Lugaw is one of the cheap foods that students can buy and my classmates and I already have unli porridge for only five pesos.

Absolutely, lugaw is essential...yes its cheap and heart warming... It's my one comfort food and i eat most of the time specially during long and stressful work hours..Thumbs up for both of you.. Keep safe always....😊

We have something similar here in Taiwan called "Shi-fan" (稀飯), but you have to add the condiments by yourself. The Filipino lugaw and arroz caldo come with the contents already mixed in. There's a lot of condiments, too. Very flavorful and can be addictive since you can't stop eating. Just be careful not to eat too much (or too fast) or you will feel bloated and you may get indigestion. Watching with love from Taipei, Taiwan! 😍💕
