Foreign Girl's Life Destroyed by the Japanese Medical System

Lili walked into a Japanese hospital with minor complaints, but she left the hospital on a stretcher in severe pain. Due to improper procedures, Lili can't walk, sit or lie on her back since that fateful day.
Due to the doctors' medical negligence, Lili suffers from two severe conditions; a CSF leak and adhesive arachnoiditis. For almost a year, she has spent 24/7 laying on her sides in constant pain. She has no quality of life and is trying hard to survive one minute at a time.
Her current situation is beyond saddening. The medical community in Japan has treated Lili inhumanely.
Please consider donating and sharing her story and fundraiser. She needs help during this difficult time.

    what are you talking about? She was so kind, she literally was hosting the whole event for Lili. That's just the way people are. We all have are own style of talking and interacting. Some are not nervous, and then some are actually nervous. I can only imagine how daunting it must've been for her but she decided to do it anyway. She even took her kids with her may be she felt like she'd feel more confident with them there. Don't be so quick to judge, think and try to rationalize, put yourself in the other person's shoes.

    Ugh in the Japanese countryside I feel a little nervous going to doctors here. I remember when I first moved here I kept getting heat sickness and faintish and dizzy in the Summer even with air-conditioning. One night.I had heart palpitations and felt off and Japanese hubby took me to the hospital at night and nobody was there, the doctor took my blood pressure and pulse and told me to go home it's menopause. I have no idea why in the past few years I became heat intolerant and wasn't seeing to sweat much and regulating my temperature. Then I had tinnitus in one ear, usually it happens to both ears, I also hear a hissing if I lift medium to heavy weights and I couldn't sleep at night due to the noise. The doctor (a different doctor) tested my hearing and said it was fine and that there's nothing more he can do. Only playing a white noise helps settle it down, even several month later it still happens. Then I had toenail fungus and saw who was the highest rated dermatologist in the countryside. He wanted me to take the pill that could hurt the liver, I asked if there was an option for laser surgery and he laughed and said he never heard of laser surgery for toenail fungus. Tokyo has this option but its two hours away. Lastly my dentist was drilling a cavity and the painkiller wasn't totally numbing me and I could feel the drilling, like nails scratching hard on a chalkboard uncomfortable feeling. He gave up on giving more numbing injections and just kept drilling though I raised my hand I was in pain and then he seemed to finish early and just sealed the tooth up. But my sister is in San Francisco and she has blook in stool and doctors found multiple tumors and she was already thin and lost more weight without trying and has anemia and she is almost 50 but they were reluctant to let her get a colonoscopy. Finally they agreed but put her on ow priority list and she's been waiting for almost three months now. So can't say the grass is always greener. I am half-Japanese and born in the USA.

    @@JapanExperiences I checked her website, social accounts, a few videos… First there are absolutely no details or proof given of the hospital/doctor wrong-doing or even names given, or any proof of her condition, medical reports etc. I lived in Japan as a foreigner, I can't imagine someone in her condition not finding another doctor to help her and document her situation, it's just surreal. Secondly, the pretty website with emotion-inducing video/texts has plenty of red flags and doesn't look like it belongs to someone who'd be living in such distress. The wording of the gofundme and lack of any factual information is also intriguing. Then there's also that bitcoin account you can use to help her instead of using the gofundme page… practical, even more so if she was a scammer. I'm not 100% sure that it's a scam, but it's very possible she could be posing in her video/website, and even have accomplices who are in the know or just manipulated (the girl hosting the fundraising… how not surprised I was when she says she's never met Lili. Then there's Mariel from OnTheWorldStage channel who spoke on the phone but didn't met either). I wish someone proved me wrong, otherwise I'll just be sad for people potentially getting deceived by a disgustingly manipulative scam. Also, if I'm given proof, I will help her 100%.

  • @JapanExperiences

    As the video mentioned she is unable to move without extreme pain. She cannot sit or lay on her back. She needs a medical evacuation which is very expensive and the reason for the fundraising. The hospital that did an unnecessary procedure on her which caused all these problems is one of the biggest hospitals in Japan. It would be a long and expensive court case. They don’t have the money to fight a court case. The first concern is getting medical treatment. Her present medical condition is complicated and I’m guessing other doctors are scared to step on the toes of the negligence of the doctors that messed her up.

Someone needs to be accountable I mean as long as she has money to pay or has insurance to cover, it should not have been a problem at least I would think so. I don’t live there so I don’t know, but they ought to be ashamed of themselves. I wonder if somebody is willing to be her voice and fight for her attorney wives I hope that word gets around and somebody that sees her story can definitely help her because this is not only so unethical for any doctor from anywhere in the whole world, but it’s just absolutely disgusting and the Japanese medical care system should be so embarrassed of themselves to allow this situation to go as far as it has

    I know it wouldn’t be ideal but instead of a Medical Transport, I still think that she should contact the Swedish government about that, but what about simply buying a set of three seats a row and bringing like some kind of mattress and getting some seatbelt extenders that way she could lay on her side and put foam down on either side so that it would be padded so against the back and the bottom so that way she would have a bed Then she could use seatbelt extenders to go around her to strap her in on her side as I said it wouldn’t be as deal as Medical Transport but she had to lay on her side and that anyway I would try that and because she could do that immediately and get back to Sweden and then have an ambulance meet her maybe have somebody have a few people with her who can help her in In most international flights, they have chairs that can turn into bed, so same kind of idea get her strapped in on her side on one of those bed chairs and then they can flip her during the flight a couple times again not ideal, but it’s something that could be done immediately to get her back

    I hope she gets better and finds the help she needs! In my experience, Japanese healthcare is not so good compared to countries like the US. I see it glamorized sometimes by Americans since we have NHI, but I don't think the quality is on par with the US. I have read that people in Japan are four times more likely to die in hospital from a heart attack than the US, e.g. I had this rash around my ankles and elbows and sometimes hips for several years as a boy and bounced between over 10 doctors in Japan, and none of them prescribed anything that worked. One diagnosed it as metal allergy and that made zero sense to me and avoiding contact with metals made no difference along with the medication. Others diagnosed as eczema or psoriasis and prescribed medication on top of suggesting I moisturize the areas, but I noticed moisturizing made the condition much worse. In fact, deliberately trying to keep the skin dry offered much more relief than trying to keep it moist. Then my parents took me to US on a summer vacation and a doctor there, and he diagnosed it as a type of dermatitis caused by bacterial infection and gave me antibiotics and a Cortizone injection. Then in spite of giving up hope on treatment and thinking I will have to have this rash for the rest of my life, it practically cleared overnight with his diagnosis and prescription in ways I had lost hope of ever seeing. So maybe I might have just gotten lucky but it seems like amazing luck when 10 Japanese doctors could not cure what the very first American doctor I went could cure so easily. Downside is that it cost a fortune: my parents had to pay like $500 USD for the American doctor when the other doctors only charged like $20 USD with NHI including the prescription. So I think Japanese healthcare is rather backwards, and I notice it in the general nature of the clinics and hospitals and doctors. It's cheap but not so great, and I think many people come to Japan with mistaken assumption thinking it is so cutting-edge place when it's not so much. Japanese dentists, for example, still use drill for cavity and generally refrain from anesthetic unless patient can't tolerate the pain, while I look at modern American dentists using lasers focusing on minimally-invasive and pain-free dental care with admiration while my dentist is drilling into my tooth painfully and asking me when I wince if I can stand the pain (only to leave me with a dilemma of admitting it hurts too much vs. looking like a total wimp; usually the masculine pride kicks in and I just try to tough it out).

    I think you are right Japan is good and bad in regards to medical. I feel it`s in between the Canadian and American health system in regards to price and quality. Health care is less expensive than the US but more than in Canada. But Canada is terribly ineffecient these days. You could wait months before getting an MRI but in Japan I got one the same day my first time at a walk-in clinic.

  • @zakwanarif

    Lmao stop talking based of assumption. Just look up on credible statistics and you would see Japan ranks high in the healthcare. In fact, always rank in top 10 for many years straight. I mean just look at Japan life expentancy, which is the highest in the world fyi. People there dont live long for no reason. Plus, the US also have many similar incident like this just look it up. There is even a case where doctor in America amputate wrong leg of a patient

  • @darkengine5931

    @darkengine5931

    @@zakwanarif Might some of it be based on diet and lifestyle though? I generally consider it a plus that average Japanese in their 60s don't have to sort out 11 pills to take a day in their medicine cabinets. It is difficult to tell from the stats but I think overall American healthcare is better, but wayyyyy too expensive! Medical malpractice exists across the world but I look at basic statistics like chances to die of heart attack in a hospital (4x higher in Japan). Of course people who can't even be bothered to walk to their mailbox (having to get in car, drive to mailbox, get mail, park car), are generally less healthy than people who walk or cycle 1-2 hours a day. But Japanese are behind on healthcare, no? Is this contentious? What of news reports here where four hundred Japanese people died in 2010 from a prescribed drug which US FDA banned in the 1980s? I do not understand why people in the West glamorize Japanese healthcare so much except that it's free, and free is totally awesome, but free doesn't mean top-shelf.

    You need to get out of Joann and go back to your home country to see US they have laws that basically they won’t give you any pain medication unless you’re dying of cancer then, as far as I know, they were only used proof of fall to literally sedate patients and put them unconscious, but still not giving them high doses of pain medication even in the US because of the laws changed . They do have air medical teams that can come and get you on like a bed and fly you back to the US. Of course I don’t know about insurance and all that but you need to get out of Japan because you’re not going to get any kind of Palletive Care pain management treatment there really at all ‘. Depending on how bad your condition is which it sounds like it’s really bad I would highly suggest that whichever state you end up living in that you immediately contact your local hospice palliative care team, so just so you know, hospice is obviously for people that are dying palliative care for people that have long-term painful medical conditions you would qualify I believe palliative care. Please give them a call because the White laws are written now in the US they can actually treat you a little better than a regular pain management team..
