My biggest thrill at the Fair in 1965 was getting to sit in the driver's seat of a red convertible Mustang for the ride. Unforgettable experience.

I visited the '64 World's Fair as a part of my 104 member high-school Honor's band for Wisconsin Day at the Fair. We marched passed our pavilion shoulder to shoulder through the crowds. A lot of those viewing thought we were the University of Wisconsin-Madison Marching Band due to our brand new uniforms with a LARGE W on the front and back and BIG sound. We were good.......! On our "free" day we chose to wear dress pants, dress shoes and jackets as did most of the Fair-goers. Every one was rather well dressed. I was able to visit again after my Sr. year graduation, and among other things, was able to ride in the GM Turbine car on their test track adjacent to their HUGE pavilion.

When I went there in June '64 with my high school class EVERYONE wanted to ride in the then brand mew Mustang, but the guides wouldn't allow anyone to get at the end of the line - where the 'Stangs were beginning to show up..it was the ONLY time in my life I ever saw folks almost fighting to be the LAST in line....today I read that Ford will make a limited production of 1,964 replica '64 'Stangs....what memories...I'm 64 CB in FL

@@endtheBSfinally me too. And when I got home 400 miles away my neighbor had one parked in his driveway. He worked at our ford dealership as head of sales. Dark metallic green with white interior. We all called it “the emerald. “

There’s a Mustang convertible on display in Concord, NC that was used at the Magic Skyway. It’s absolutely breathtaking.

@@lightningblue648 ...it's kinda hard to remember just how big this new sports car was in the spring/summer of 1964...certainly a long way from these days...I'm 70 and still have the memories...

I would give anything to experience this. I’m a major Ford guy and especially Mustangs. I celebrate the anniversary on April 17th each year. It’s phenomenal but there’s a black Mustang convertible on display at the Mustang Owner’s Museum in Concord, NC that was used in the Magic Skyway.

We always waited for a mustang. You picked the language you heard from the guide on the push button radio. After the ride you had a Bavarian waffle. Things you remember at 8 years old.

This is extremely legendary historic footage right here. this is amazing to witness myself, gawd i go to that pavilion myself and dream about this place more than you can ever think. i just have to just have to get in there just once :(. i’ve only snuck in the towers but not the pavilion it’s pretty much impossible with so many failed attempts, last time i tried sneaking in the pavilion some shadow dudes were watching us from the museum next to it and by the time we got out there was a black shadow dude behind the pillar of the pavilion glaring at us and i yell for the boys to hop out the fence more quickly. by far one of the hardest and creepiest things to ever complete. if only they understood our love for the beauty of that vintage historic building

Awesome, it's the first version of what they did at Epcot. I wish they kept the real cars to ride in for the Epcot rides. :)

I remember the early-mid 1960s and not surprised with Ford Motor's largesse in their World's Fair pavilion. I wonder if they would do it again now?

At the end of the ride, you were in a future world, Walt Disney gave us this message for the future of cars! We've come a long way on our journey with man Here we are on the threshold of tomorrow Man's achievements in Science and Industry have carried us here. And like the blast off of a space vehicle for the moon and beyond, Man's achievements, have challenged our hope and rocketed our dreams beyond the horizons. Perhaps some day we'll be riding rocket ships

like those flashing overhead, to anywhere in space Perhaps some day we will drive jet powered vehicles over weather controlled highways in the sky like the spiraling tubes around you. But all such dreams begin in the minds of man. Men of vision faith and imagination, men of science and industry education and the arts As we have seen along the magic skyway, man is always on the move. Searching and dreaming beyond the horizons of today and bringing the promise of tomorrow, ever closer to reality

If ford were to have that same ride today all the cars would be mustangs because that's the only convertible they have left.
