@@garyschoonmaker1486 Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Somehow I didn't see your question. That fridge used a semiconductor plate for cooling. It's not very effective inside a vehicle. I replaced the fridge a while back with a compressor fridge. It performs much better.

I like how you put thought into making this a true Camper instead of just a mattress with some storage like most ppl do with a Truck Shell. I would imagine if a Company were to do this with greater precision, it'd be easily sellable.

You done a great job and you have a great attitude! Thank you for that! Im not negative but the only thing i wouldve done different i wouldve put my plug to hook up in campground in a different place where i could shut my tailgate and topper especialy in bad weather. I just got a high top topper 2 days ago for my 94 2500 Ram long bed. I want to thank you for your video it has realy helped me especialy on a tight budget. I tore down a 26 ft. Camper a few years ago. I kept my cushions like yours my tear down table and many other things that i had forgot bout till you came along. I gave away alot of good things to help others that wouldve came in handy but glad others were helped. The way you did your roof is awesome and that was my main concern on how i was going to do mine. Thanks my friend and have a great day!

For the ones wanting more height. You can builds sides on top of your bed rails all the way around and then set your topper on top of the lift. Ive seen some done that looks junky and ridiculous but i have seen some that took pride and homework in their work and done it right and it looked great but also very sturdy and safe to handle the topper secure. But if you do this there will be a lot more wind resistance and fuel mileage is not going to be good but you will have a lot more head room. Weigh the pros and cons in everything including life before you do anything.

Looks good! Love the cap height. I think the weak point is using the inverter to convert DC power to AC. There's a lot of battery power lost in the conversion. You need a 12v fridge, and the laptop should already use DC through USB. The inverter is nice when you have shore power, but day to day it should be off, IMO. I want to do a similar setup in my 8ft bed Silverado but having a hard time finding a reasonably priced cap that's tall enough. I just got quoted almost $6K USD for an ARE MX series with a bedrug and headliner. Crazy times.

I slept in my Ford Ranger w/canopy overnight and I found the biggest problem was the height of the canopy so I'm looking at ways to build a camping canopy with much more height and maybe expandable width. Anyone who owns a canopy knows you are constantly crawling in and out of it because of the low height.

Your set up camper and your enjoyment outside in the wild remains me very much like ours. I have 2008 4.0l 4 x 4 Ranger. My shell is six feet long and higher towards the end. We have similar benches on the sides but not that wide. Truck platform is divided in half, across to make more stable support. Has a door, but everybody asked, how can you get inside, the way is set up. Everything is made from 12 mil. plywood, no 2 x 4 support. First half truck bed is permanently sett in above on sides of truck with another same size plywood moveable towards the back of the truck. Sides of plywood is holding against shifting by railings. Our sleeping mattress (not that thick like yours) is bend in half and stays in storage with sleeping bags on top of two plywood assembly (one permanent, one sliding, moveable) I'm about your size, so we have it 2m sleeping platform. Everything is fastened to 12 mil. floor plywood, which cover up entire truck floor. We were many times hunting, till dark, so set up for a sleep was work for like 25 sec. Otherwise we were camping, just like you people. My wife stays in the camp, at campfire and cook meals, when I was sometime out hunting. I live in Canada and we were travel many times to US. We could sleep anywhere without anybody notice us sleeping in truck. My ranger is 4 door and fridge is located behind passenger seat. I tried to make everything light set up, because there is a lot of staff go with us. I put another AGM battery in engine room compartment (very hard to find a room for it) and now is shipped to me new US built alternator 220 amps. (100 amps. at Idle). Have a removeable 4 t. winch. So there is a lot of weight went with us. With two battery total 26.6 volts. hook up in series I can do emergency welding and so on.

@@sinrumbo1 Hi Philippe, I' am not up loading to KZread or any other social media. I watching KZreadrs on KZread channel as an entertainment I never seen anything a like of my built up. I was looking two things weight and power draw.. There is lot of staff goes with us. First half truck bed works for us as a cooling box So if I shoot something at evening, cool of the meet, put in the cool box and stays cool whole day when travel back home Another half is similar to yours We can cook there, change clothes and so on. I don't have that set up for a table like you do, because from my previous experience that holder on the floor was always in my way. Do not like it. My winch is removable to the front or back of truck. Heavy cables are channel for that under the vehicle inside the truck frame and double insulated They end up with proper lock in connector So I can hooked up where I want to. Or I pooled out my back connector and connected to another one on 2000 watts power inverter ad heat my meal in micro oven if necessary. I see lot of electrical equipment put in which by my opinion are not needed, but makes money and one copy from others and so goes. Whole my life I worked as a technician in industrial electronics, so I know what I talk about. I like to make things simple and safe. I'm not to make my story any longer, but if you want to send some pictures to you, then email yours g mail address to my email which could be not safe to put it on social media, I think. If I know yours email address, no problem to send you pictures. One more thing to mention. I never drill single hole anywhere in my truck! Is just as new.

  • @sinrumbo1

Just not sure in such a truck if the access door would be practical. On the cab side is the bench seat that you'd have to climb over, or you'd have to remove it and convert the cab to a 2-seater only. Doable though.

For us it is the best way to get to remote and beautiful places and still have a dry and fairly comfortable place to eat our meals and sleep. Some could see it as a tough life. For us it is highly enjoyable. I like to ask why be content with a 5-star hotel when I can sleep with all the stars above me :-)

m721ac..life is tough but it's all in your attitude..I'm a vandweller..got sick, lost it all, career(Nurse), savings, vehicles, home..used my last bit of money for a down on my van n 15 months later here I am..watched cheaprvliving.com for about 2 years before losing my home bc i kinda saw what was up..knew i couldnt afford to live in a place on disability, always wanted to travel, so what the heck..I've been stationary for the most part on a healing journey, but I'm loving it..by springtime, maybe sooner if weather holds, I'll be headed out somewhere..but for now, not looking back..would love to travel to other countries..maybe? Ya never know✌💜😊

Felicitaciones!!. No le des bola a las criticas de los argentos envidiosos. Y a quienes dicen que seria mejor una van.... no tienen ni idea lo complicado y caro que es conseguir una van como la gente o un chasis 4x4 por estos lados. Felicitaciones nuevamente. Abrazo desde la Patagonia Argentina.
