    Bro, that is an Outstanding guide you have done! superb verbal breakdown,excellent camera work and ultra thorough all around! Ive had my gt for 27yrs and she lekas from both covers, the rear is the worst with the classic smoke under the hood from burned oil after a hard run..ive been putting this off for like forever...this clear guide almost makes me want to tackle it!.. i need to do the knock sensor buried in there as well...One thing ,if i may ask: i had removed the throttlebody ages ago to clean loads of gunk from it.. after reinstalling, my idlespeed has been too high... originally, my airscrew was abt 1 and 1/2 turns out for a 650 rpm idle....now ,it will idle at 1200 rpm with that setting so airscrew needs now to be screwed in so about 1/2 a turn open... my tps is correctly adjusted and throttle linkage is set right, and is not pulling the valve open..I dont see or hear an vacuum leaks in the area...Recently, i pulled the throttlebody again and checked and cleaned the IAC.. it looked fine..i blasted it with brake cleaner, powered it on and off with some volts to watch it open and close... bolted back together and idle was fine for a few miles with airscrew at 1.5 turns open... then next time i used car, it was back to the high idle again... the only way I can get it done is to keep the airscrew at 1/2 turn open....what do u think is the cause? im at a loss.

    My son and I bought a 1994 Probe gt - v6 2.5l. When we bought the car the entire engine was disassembled and parts were all in a bucket. We are slowly identifying parts and cleaning them all up. We do know the car will need - new water pump, timing belt, pretty much all gaskets, ect. My question is this: the spark plug wires were removed and while you very specifically labeled yours as you removed them…we do not have that luxury. Lol Can you help us figure out how NEW wires would go…or point in right direction to help install new wires/plugs properly. We have a lot of cleanup and detailed work to do on this car before spark plugs go in…. Loved your video. It was very informative and will be VERY helpful when we try to reinstall engine parts, manifolds, air intake, ect.

    Thought I'd add a followup: I did that valve cover job,new gaskets and did that knock sensor as well... ironically, though I'd Never had the intake manifold off before, and I am its owner since new, mine did Not have that hidden bolt holding the intake in place... not complaining as it made the job easier! when I put it back together, I certainly wasnt gonna add a bolt in there since its been fine since new without it.. as a post note: I was concerned about the rtv silicone getting squezzed out and entering into oil orifices. I tried to use only alittle in the grooves and wiped it clear but upon tightening, I could see it squeezing out,visible from the outside of the cover and likely also inside as well.. anyway, ive been using it for a bit with no issues other than some leakage must have developed somewhere as its starting once again, to smoke from under hood when I park it..oil burning off the headers it seems... I'll probably redo it yet again, with better gaskets and special attention to the sharply bent areas the oring gasket seats against.. these cars seem a real challenge to keep oil tight! how is urs doing after these few yrs? any leaks?

    Great video, and a really beautiful car. Your engine bay looks immaculate. You clearly have a knack for making instructional videos for complex multi step processes. I really hope you’ll do more of them for those common probe problems. I have a 97 Probe GT that I am trying to preserve. I’m also using my probe as a platform for learning new diy skills. Videos like yours are really helpful. One question. I have the very common EGR low flow code and i will need to access my EGR valve, perhaps to replace it. Would it be wise to do that with valve cover replacement? Does the valve replacement procedure create the room to do this easily? Thanks for this great video!!!

  • @jeffycr3169

    @jeffycr3169

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'll be honest, I'm not sure about the EGR valve since I haven't done it on my car. I'd have to reference the shop manual to see what the exact procedure is. That said, after removing the intake manifold, there's a ton of room to work so you may want to consider tackling any other hard-to-reach problems while it's apart. And as I make repairs on the car, I'll be sure to make some more videos!

    I have a V6 MX-3. I've encountered pretty bad engine stuttering and a noticeable burning smell when I've been driving it. I checked the cat and even some of the fuel system but can't seem to find the issue. Think it could be the gaskets considering its also a Mazda K series engine?

  • @jeffycr3169

    @jeffycr3169

    Definitely pull the spark plug wires and see if there's any oil on them. If oil is getting into the spark plug tubes, it'll degrade the rubber wireset and cause that engine stuttering. If you see oil on the wireset or in the spark plug tubes, you've got bad gaskets

    Just want to make a note here and say a few things. First, f that bolt in the back. Second, don’t drain your coolant, just disconnect the throttle body from the intake plenum. Third, no need to remove the engine hook. Some of the steps are not necessary 😅

  • @probesport
    @probesport Жыл бұрын

    That's a lot of sealant, you only need them in the hard corners. Also we've never drained the coolant, no real need, just pinch off the TB coolant lines -0 and really loop those TB coolant lines, they don't help anyway. That mystery bolt is referred to as the 'bitch bolt' for this car, it rarely goes back in. Otherwise, nice work.
