Ive lived to see Mustangs go up and down, then back up again on hp through the years. Nobody from back in the 70's 80's 90's or 2000 and beyond ever dreamed of seeing a Ford Mustang built to this kind of spec. 325"s on the front? Imcredible! Ford doing some tinkering in secret. Nice!

I've been wondering that myself. I think it may be classified as a front mid-engine (like a Viper). Since it is a dry sump, transaxle mounted configuration, they can sit the engine really far down and back. But, have to wait and see.

It’s front mid engine. Near 50/50 weight distribution. Think of amg GTR. Plus, this is a mustang, it wouldn’t make any sense to make it a rear mid engine

The engine is mounted behind the front axle so it’s a midship. You can see the pulley slightly in front of the axle.

The Mustang "used to be" for everyone. I knew a guy in the 90s who was a manager at two bell who bought a brand new GT. He made like $18 an hour and he could get a brand new GT. You can't do that now. GT 5.0s are 50 - 60k now. They're 30k used. No... they aren't for everyone anymore.

That's because jobs haven't kept up with inflation. I don't know what year you knew this guy or exactly which year Mustang he had, but let's assume it's 1995. MSRP for a Mustang GT back then was $20,710. That's equivalent to $42,410.58 today. The MSRP for a brand new Mustang GT is $43,090, barely more than the old Mustang would be in today's money. The guy you knew made $18 hr which is equivalent to $36.86 hr. That's the equivalent of $76,668.80 a year today. This guy you new made more than enough money to do whatever he really wanted to do within reason, and Mustang GT was easily attainable for him. Taco Bell managers today make like $21 hr which is way less than what this guy makes. Back then they would be making the equivalent of $10.25 hr, $21,320 compared to his $37,440. Ford has stayed pretty consistent with their pricing, but jobs have fallen behind with their pay.

The gt4 car had 2 wins at Daytona* The gt3 car that this is based off of placed 6th, nonetheless impressive for the brands they were competing against. This car doesn’t compete in any sanctioned competition, it’s a road legal gt3 car for the public if you happen to have half a million dollars lol. Msrp was 300k but been hearing that dealers are marking them up almost double if not triple

The GT4 version is also a new car, being just a dialed back version of the GT3 Mustang. They are both purpose built race cars utilizing stock bodies. The difference being GT3's more open rules....everywhere! I was hoping for that 5th place but a Corvette got 'em in the closing laps I suppose. When I wrote the OP I had no idea the outcome. I just found out yesterday that they ran the 24hr race last weekend.😅

Man I would keep the engine in the front for balance. Rear mounted engine have crazy over steer look at Porsche when they first start you’ll see what I’m talking about you fighting balance instead of fighting speed

Great we have this awesome mustang that costs 300k and only making 2000 of which means they will be bought up by collectors and we will never see on the street. Come on Ford give the working class guy another SVT Cobra "TERMINATOR" that we can bang gears with and afford.

Wikipedia says that it uses a variant of the 5.2L Predator. Does this also mean the engine has a cross-plane crankshaft?

I don’t think this is a cross-plan. The predator is the GT500 motor. It’s more than likely a stinger variant of the same block.

You didnt push it enough, or else this specific mustang will be pushing north of 1500 hp and 1000+ torque some people are saying this could have very well been AWD although i must say the transaxle is an upgrade for sure. This specific mustang aint for everyone like what they saying with dealership markup this will be pushing north of 600k

Yes, I definitely do. They chose this DCT because it's cheap and ready to roll out. Given how limited and expensive this car is, they would've been better fit working with Porsche to integrate the PDK. BTW, how much would one's salary have to be to be considered "highly priced?" @@Rad-lc8gf

We will see. Like they said in the Clip, it's not just a tuned mustang, it's a race car for the streets and if i remember correct it will have things to make it even better than the race car cause they don't have to follow the GTD rules. It will be very interessting to see it at the Nürburgring.
