Dont forget to ensure parking brake is on or else the top wont go down. Sometimes its the little things

By the way, a large syringe (with a tube attached) is much easier to both withdraw the old fluid from the elect motor as well as put new fluid in. Very easy and it can hold more.

David Harris true this guy must be new to convertible cars!!!😂😂😂

My son has a 2001 3.8 convertible and the top stopped working. He thought it was the switch because we had recently filled the fluid according to your video and all was fine for about 6 months. I checked the switch and it did feel dinky but it tested good with the tester. So I checked the relays and one of them was dead as a door nail and the other one tested good. However, I was not able to get the top to go up or down by switching the places of the good and bad relay. Does the top need both of the relays to work in this car? I should probably go ahead and buy 2 new relays instead of just the one I think. What do you think about the plan of attack?

Did you have any luck getting the top working?

My problem is different. It moves up and down. I fellows the hydraulic fluid. Its moving very slow and doesn’t close all the way. I have to pull really hard on the locks to get them to connect

You might have air in the lines , try bleeding it out and refilling the fluid

Hello . I have a problem as well with my top .. both relays click in the up and down position .. the top does not move .. i then unplugged the top motor and ran power direct to the pump and it worked just fine . the top wont work with the switch just the relays click ? do you have any other idears on this problem . thank you

@@stevenvaldez3520 I had the same problem guys on my 07. I recommend checking the voltage on the motor if you don't see any voltage after the windows go down it means the circuits is not fully connected. For my case the base of the relay box needed replacement.

Abdulelah Habib Hey AH. Ended up buying a new motor for the top from American Muscle. I think it was about 250 bucks. After 25 years the old motor had its ups and downs 😁

I have a 05 mustang I replaced the pump and it still does not work both Relays click the switch is working I check the parking brake switch it is good and the top does not work is it possible the relays could still be bad even though they are clicking?

My 07 mustang top is stuck and won’t close oil in motor is full so I need a new motor

I need help! Lol. I figured out why my top wasn't going down. It had the gray relay in there the 7016. Someone took all my relays out and put them back in but now I'm missing my other black relay..the 7016. I'm looking all over the internet and cannot find that exact relay anywhere! The only relays I see that look like these are for other cars. I even found one at advance auto online but then it says it does not fit my car. They look exactly the same...even have the same numbers on the relay prongs. Is there any difference? Does anyone know where I can buy this relay??

Upon activating the switch to put the top down, all windows except right rear went down and the top did not go down. I turned everything off, came inside, saw this video and was going to check relays. Now the switch takes all windows down and the top went down as well. What's going on? I don't want to get caught in the rain and not being able to put the top back up.

2002 mustang. The top starts going up, but can't go all the way. Motor is running. Will it work at all if the relay up is bad? Thx

The top doesn't go up. I cant hear the click either. I only hear the relay when going down. I tried buying new relays and still no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated

NO! Can be a bad switch or no power to the relay. The coil on the relay might be bad and still click but a previous low voltage condition could have welded the contacts together. I would jump the power at the relay to check it's not the relays.

@@bobayagga2233 just connect power to the motor directly. Ground and positive. If the motor works you'll hear it "run". Just get a long cable to the battery and a short one to ground. I usually test my motor like the window motors at a dismantler with my battery from my 18v electric impact... not for the novice though lol
