Ford Model T - Fixing Rear Seal Leak
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today I show how to fix a rear seal leak on a 1913 Ford Model T.
Recently an oil leak had been seen on my drivers side rear wheel and I suspected that it must be a seal failure...but it wasn't!
After talking to both Steve and Don Lang from Lang's Old Car Parts, and carefully measuring all of the components (wheel bearing, sleeve, drive shaft) and inspecting my inner seal (which was good), it was determined that my problem was too much oil in the rear differential! Lowering the level about 1 to 1-1/2 inches below the fill hole solved my problem, but going thru the process made everything better! It just goes to show you that sometimes new parts aren't necessary...just good knowledgeable help!

Exactly what I needed to see. I am going to attempt on my 1914 Touring car. Thanks!
I like watching real people do this stuff. The pros make it look to easy.
Thank you for posting this very helpful video
Thanks
Great video! I would have never guessed the fluid was overfilled. So in later models they lowered the bolt so you couldn’t overfill?
You shouldn't have been able to get the nut and wheel off that easily. Way too loose
