Ford Maverick & Toyota Tacoma Both Stuck in Deep Sand | Self Recovery

Hey everyone, Kevin here. I figured I’d start a KZread channel that felt a little more personable as I brought you all along on my adventures. Florida can be a tough state to camp in. I usually camp twice a week from November until March with friends. I still camp through the summer, just not as frequently as other adventures seem to take up the long summer days. I work rotating 12 hour shifts that allow me to have off 14+ days a month. Combine that with my sense of adventure and I'm able to see what the states really have to offer. So please, go ahead, subscribe and follow along for some fun outdoor adventures!

I’ve doubled the line before and it’s extremely slow. Plus you have to stop and let it cool down since you are working it harder. Also takes a toll on the trucks battery and charging system.

Bring that thing on down and we can ride! Due to the incline and the weight of the truck, I don’t think wiring down would have helped. There’s an electrical issue with the 4x4 from when I sank it a few years ago.

@@OverlandFlorida Yes, but! I tried driving my Maverick on the beach near the ocean, where it’s Super soft sand. I dig it in up to the top of the bumper. I dig it out and drop air down to 20 psi in all the tire. After that I was getting stuck and was ability to drive up an incline back to the road. I still have stock everything. I true believe that I won’t have got stuck in the first place if I had just a 2” lift and air down the tires. They made these trucks so low for the fuel economy. The narrow tires don’t help either but it not a game stopper.

@@OverlandFlorida one trick is also to wiggle it left-right while going thru and tires catching a bit of the edge of the ruts, may create some grip to keep pulling thru. I also would air down too much if not worried about sharp rocks poking the tires. you'll lose ground clearance. I think just airing down 5psi to help soften up the grip is fine. unless rougher ground terrain

@@OverlandFlorida what's the biggest lift right now for the Maverick? I like the Maverick also but I would want to see a rear locker, low range, and probably a 3+ inch lift on it and 32s and it would be a pretty serious contender at that point. I don't know if I already told you but if you want some cheap 245 65 17 tires just go over to the Cherokee Trailhawk forums and they will be giving them away because that's the factory tire - and it's a Firestone destination AT - they're pretty good. There's basically zero road noise and they bite really well in the grass and the dirt I can tell you that. I think people are saying that that's one of the bigger tires that you can put on a Maverick. To be honest they might bite better than my Cooper AT3 4S that I have right now. The wet traction on road is better on the Cooper but I think the off-road traction was probably better on the firestone.
