Ford Maverick & Toyota Tacoma Both Stuck in Deep Sand | Self Recovery
Hey everyone, Kevin here. I figured I’d start a KZread channel that felt a little more personable as I brought you all along on my adventures. Florida can be a tough state to camp in. I usually camp twice a week from November until March with friends. I still camp through the summer, just not as frequently as other adventures seem to take up the long summer days. I work rotating 12 hour shifts that allow me to have off 14+ days a month. Combine that with my sense of adventure and I'm able to see what the states really have to offer. So please, go ahead, subscribe and follow along for some fun outdoor adventures!

For a hot second I was thinking of how snatch blocks can increase potential of a smaller winch, and then I saw how slow the winch already pulls!!!

I’ve doubled the line before and it’s extremely slow. Plus you have to stop and let it cool down since you are working it harder. Also takes a toll on the trucks battery and charging system.
Watched this with my wife who I am convincing to overland, and said “THIS is what I’m most worried about!” :)

I have been working on a Jeep, maybe I can come and wheel with you guys sometime once it is reliable... Maybe he could have let some air out of the back tires. My type of fun! And like Chris asked, what happened to the 4wd in the Taco? Waiting for part 2 of being stuck...

Bring that thing on down and we can ride! Due to the incline and the weight of the truck, I don’t think wiring down would have helped. There’s an electrical issue with the 4x4 from when I sank it a few years ago.

I saw the Tacoma take-off and then the transmission shifted to the next gear and you lost momentum. You need to put the transmission into manual mode to keep the rpms up.

It wouldn’t have helped very much. But good idea. The 4x4 wouldn’t engage.
Why Doesn't Toyota Pickup Use Four Wheel Drive? If Doesn't Have Four Wheel Drive He Shouldn't Take It Off Road. You need to let air out the tire. Bring it down to 20 psi. Had to do the same when I took my on the beach.

Wouldn’t have helped the maverick, it was just too low to the ground.

@@OverlandFlorida Yes, but! I tried driving my Maverick on the beach near the ocean, where it’s Super soft sand. I dig it in up to the top of the bumper. I dig it out and drop air down to 20 psi in all the tire. After that I was getting stuck and was ability to drive up an incline back to the road. I still have stock everything. I true believe that I won’t have got stuck in the first place if I had just a 2” lift and air down the tires. They made these trucks so low for the fuel economy. The narrow tires don’t help either but it not a game stopper.

you lose clearance by airing down. thats for variety terrain, rock climbing.
Man I’ve been down that road a few times and there’s no way I’d try it in two wheel drive lol, is the acuator bad on the transfer case? I heard it isn’t too bad of a fix

I'm lost..... What happened to Florida Overland? Why is the Tacoma only 2wd? Why in the name of Toy Story did you get a Maverick? What happened to his old Tacoma?
@OverlandFlorida
Жыл бұрын
I changed the name Overland Florida, its not really relevant anymore to this channel. The 4x4 won't engage anymore, it has an electrical problem. I can't afford the toyota tax anymore nor the gas associated with it. Ron still has both of his Tacoma's.
Did you all air down your tires?

@@OverlandFlorida one trick is also to wiggle it left-right while going thru and tires catching a bit of the edge of the ruts, may create some grip to keep pulling thru. I also would air down too much if not worried about sharp rocks poking the tires. you'll lose ground clearance. I think just airing down 5psi to help soften up the grip is fine. unless rougher ground terrain

@@OverlandFlorida what's the biggest lift right now for the Maverick? I like the Maverick also but I would want to see a rear locker, low range, and probably a 3+ inch lift on it and 32s and it would be a pretty serious contender at that point. I don't know if I already told you but if you want some cheap 245 65 17 tires just go over to the Cherokee Trailhawk forums and they will be giving them away because that's the factory tire - and it's a Firestone destination AT - they're pretty good. There's basically zero road noise and they bite really well in the grass and the dirt I can tell you that. I think people are saying that that's one of the bigger tires that you can put on a Maverick. To be honest they might bite better than my Cooper AT3 4S that I have right now. The wet traction on road is better on the Cooper but I think the off-road traction was probably better on the firestone.
