Parking in a slot is something most people can do (but not all!). Parallel parking baffles many, although if you actually learn a simple procedure it's not that difficult.

I once drove a Ford Focus with automatic parking. It was very impressive. Although not essential for a car of its size, the fact that you can get your parallel parking right first time takes the stress out of parking; especially when you a see a queue of impatient drivers in your rear view mirror, waiting for you to park yourself out of their way.

Love the Focus! Can't wait to get my MK3 1.0T Ecoboost in Candy Red! I love the Zetec with appearance pack!

It's the same on quite a few new cars it's saves money because the rear brakes aren't that that important for stopping a relatively light FF car like this,it's the fronts that do most of the work

That's true but I think that in a car that costs more than 20.000€ it's very sad that they have to save costs in what basically is safety. Ok, it will stop the car in quite a short distance, but drum brakes fade very quickly and combining that with a loaded car... I don't want to know how things will turn out after a few hard brakings. And by the looks of them, they aren't even ventilated. Even my 99' Lancia Delta features that!

Unless you're driving an especially high-performance car, you don't really need anything but drum breaks at the rear, particularly if you have fairly effective discs at the front. Whilst obviously they use represents something of a cost saving measure for carmakers, at this point they're mostly used because of the weight saving they represent. It's all about efficiency!

Ginny has definitely improved since she started. The videos are pretty good now.

I own a 2013 Focus, recently found out that actually you can lift the "seat" of the back seat and then when you fold down the back it is complete flat, which gives larger boot sapce

If you think the Focus has a small boot, order the Focus with the Titanium handling package (and Ford throws in a full-size spare), which raises the boot height a good 1.5-2". Ford got rid of that handling package for North America for 2017, though.

I always thought the self parking systems were an unnecessary addition until my mother started looking for a new car. So few vehicles have them and they are very handy for older people who my be getting arthritic.

I knew she'd grow into the role once she got a bit of practice. Sure, first few videos were a bit awkward but she has found more of a groove. Who wouldn't be nervous filming knowing that you were about to get all kinds of negative comments! Anyway, this review is much better and thankfully now we can go back to discussing the cars not the presenters!

How can you confuse people by saying "plastics of front seats are hard..." Really? We have 2014 focus and 2014 golf and they are very good or nearly equal at material quality. They both have hard plastic sides of the front seats! This is not the first time. When Rebecca reviewed the station focus (titanium), she touched and said "plastic that covers key area is hard" Seriously? If you want to get a car with fantastic plastic quality you can 5 or7 series, e or s class and car like them. By the way there are hard plastics on e class too !!!

Ginny seems to be far more engaging, enthusiastic and passionate in her reviews as of late...She should keep it up...In the early days, she sounded like she was just reading from the script in a boring way...

Common faults are water leaking into the foot well from heater unit hose and the bushings on the front wishbones fail fairly quickly.

How was the automatic transmission?

Anyone watching in the US or Canada, PLEASE call or write Ford Customer Service. Tell them we want the new generation Fiesta and/or Focus hatchbacks with manual transmission option in the U.S./Canadian market. Which is more reliable a focus or a bmw 1 series?

just all the bragging about the drum brakes speaks for the fact it is an image question, not a question of safety. what I as a consumer am interested about is braking distance and handling under full braking (moose test result), not whether the car uses discs, drums or magic to stop itself. so many people drive proudly cars with disc brakes even though they have archaic torsion bar suspension instead of more advanced and safer multi-link, because they just don't understand it. ford was always a leader in question of handling.

What is better??? Mazda 3 or ford focus???

How is the power shift version? Are the automatic version any good ??

I own a 2017 Titanium Focus. On long spins I do get occasional leg and bum ache....it seems the base on the Titanium spec seats is more inclined than on Zetec models...has anyone else found this?

Nope , I have a 67 plate titanium x and it's the most comfortable focus I have owned out of the 3 I have had . 99 plate zetec and an 06 titanium previously.

Ehh why drum brakes on the top model in UK? My Russian 2008 Ghia has discs in the back. So did the two 2015 titaniums I rented in Canada

Yes! Of course I mean we are not stupid. She is healthy in tip top shape goes for a walk everyday at winters she likes to go cross county skiing and with her sight the eye doctor said that she could drive a lorry. Only thing she likes is that she can park where the car fits with that system (before the parking space needed to be bigger so she was able to park in it because she hesitated her parking skill) and it now easy for her to park the car.

Yes you operate the clutch. Seems like the system would just cause unnecessary additional clutch wear compared to parking the damn thing yourself. Especially for vertical parking spaces, like she said if you can't park you shouldn't have a license. Such a waste of money too just inflating the price of the car. I'd rather pay 2000 less and have a practical economy car. That is, if Ford was the last car company in existence.

All these British car reviews talk about some incredible mpg: this vehicle 74 mpg!!!! Is this correct? I've seen other British cars with incredible mpg claims. Any insight here for me? Thanks.

Totally agree about drivers needing to show comptenence behind the wheel. Far too many nervous, distracted, selfish drivers out there.

Even though she has gnarly old granny hands with black sparkly nail-polish... I'd still give her one.

I drive the non-facelift focus and the review doesn't mention anything about its two biggest drawbacks: the terribly cheap plastics used throughout the cabin, and the overly firm seats both in the front and the back. Also, why did they change the front and the rear so that it looks as much as the fiesta as it possibly could? It makes it look cheaper overall in my opinion. About the drum brakes, the non-facelift uses disk brakes both front and rear in titanium spec, so this is definitely unacceptable as it gives less braking force and is much more prone to fade and dirt buildup (specially in hot countries). If they're going to cheap out they better do it on something not related to safety.

Sorry but I think the Golf match is better buy! Has all the equipment you want, stronger engine and will be better resale. Plus you £1250 towards it which you dont get that much with Ford.

There was no ford focus in 1983... They went on sale in 1998...
