Great review, great car! Got myself a 2 year old one on Saturday, and in just 6 days I've done over 1000 miles... Suffice to say, I'm loving every second of it! It's my first 'proper' car and it's a completely new driving experience. Truly amazing how much you get for the money, especially when it's second hand. Mine has five doors, Ford Performance Blue paintwork, B&O sound system, full LED headlights (sunroof too!) and everything else, all for under £20k! Yes an Audi or Golf is nice, but you'll never beat this car on value :)

Is the Ford Fiesta ST reliable?

I have had one for over a year after having the previous ST. Absolutely stunning car with full performance pack. Great fun to drive and damned quick off the mark. The launch control is..... well I can't see when or where I would need it, having seen demo's and the cost of tyres!!!!!!!!! Fun car, fun drive just brilliant and I'm NOT a boy racer

Nice review! I took my ST2 out with my boy yesterday for some back road fun up here in Scotland! It was his first ride out in it and he thought it was EPIC. I’ve owned several hot hatches in past and this one trumps them all for handling and fun !👊

Hell of a lot of car for the money amazing little engine, love the fiesta, especially the models from 09 onwards 👌

I have just found this on my notifications. Love the colour of the car. Have a baby blue coloured i30N and it really gets some nice comments.

Got mine mid-August. I'm a biker and not really excited by cars but sometimes wanna be able to take my pedal bike places further than I can be bothered to cycle, or go walking in the countryside without having to be burdened by motorcycle gear and worrying whether the bike will still be where I left it when I get back. Or go on holiday elsewhere in the UK with clothes/shoes for unpredictable British weather and a pedal bike and perhaps inflatable kayak. Chose the ST because I didn't want to be bored numb and sure enough, now I genuinely enjoy driving. It'll never touch riding a bike, but it's undeniably fun.

Great review Mark. Car looks like a hoot to drive. I bought a MK7 ST new in 2016 and kept it for nearly 3 years. Best fun I ever had in a car. In the end the 3 door body shape just wasn't practical so I traded it for a diesel Golf (albeit a GTD) as I was getting married and needed something a bit more "grown up" and practical. I kept that for just a year and then traded up for a Golf R which I have and will have for a long time. I had inquired with my local dealer about the MK8 ST in 2018 a few times and they just didn't seem interested, pity as I could have bought and lived with the 5 door shape much more easily. I think anyone that buys one won't be disappointed.

I have a 2014 ST USA I got it when they first came out, it has 86,000+ miles on it and I’m on my 5th set of tires, that how hard I drive it, it a Cobb stage two tune, short shift kit, beefier motor mounts and many Visual modifications, I would have bought the new one but Ford pulled the plug on all car sales in the US with the exception of the Mustang. I’m 72 years young and have had many Cars & Motorcycles in my life, and by far this the most fun I’ve ever had driving, it’s a keeper, this will be my last Car. The Fiesta Flash 🤙🏼🍺🍺

Bought one a month ago. Get excited every time I have to drive somewhere. Brilliant car.

@@Maartinoooo You've probably come from a car with a nice interior. I've been solely riding motorbikes for the last 10 years so to me the interior seems quite nice. I test drove an i30N back to back with a FiST and the interior in the N felt really cheap and nasty in comparison to me.

@@beefcake9339 your lucky . I would buy one in a heartbeat only im over 6ft and my wife is tall . We have a 4 year old so it's not really suitable as a family car I'd say . We have a 320d and it's a bit small . I also thought the hyundai 130n was nasty .

Excellent review! I’ve owned my 2015 Fiesta ST since new, here in the USA where Ford has dropped the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion (Mondeo), etc. in favor of trucks and SUVs. And yes, the Mustang is still around. So I’m envious of you getting to drive the new generation, because we’ll never see them here, alas. I’ll be keeping mine for the long haul.

If it's any consolation, I'm driving a Ranger Raptor this week with a 2.0 engine - you wouldn't get something that small in the US but in Ireland, our crazy taxes and car prices force it.

I'm very glad this car exists. It will give me something to buy when my mk7 ST gets too long in the tooth! If you need the practicality, which I do, there is nothing to touch it for the money.

Amazing review!!!!! I'm curious regarding fiesta trims is st as good as titanium? As well is fiesta better to seat/ vw polo?

Bought a 68 plate ST 2 last week. It's a stunning little car. I fully agree on terms of pure fun factor it's a gem👍 I know some would ask why I went ST 2 instead of ST 3? I know I've missed out on a few gadgets but the ST 2 was roughly £1200-£1500 cheaper than at most Ford dealerships I visited. I bought the ST 2 and I've had the Revo stage one software installed (almost makes it into a new car for just over £550 with SPS switch). I am booked in to get a Miltek valved exhaust fitted in 9 days. So I am basically getting the exhaust and brilliant software upgrade for that extra £1500 I'd have spent on an ST3. I know i it effects warranty and not everyone's taste. The software upgrade is stunning and I've seen/heard nothing but good things about the Miltek exhaust system (although not sure neighbours will like it😂).

I’m probably going to get slated for this comment .fiesta ST brilliant car.But I have a2020 fiesta st line X with 140 BHP engine.Over ten grand cheaper ,looks better than standard fiesta , very classy interior.Cheap insurance and running costs,but still makes me smile every time I’m late for work.If I get caught speeding I can now quote a British government excuse,I’m only breaking the law in a very specific and limited way.People only notice it’s not an ST if you slow down enough for em to get a good look.Anyone on a budget test drive further down the range you won’t be disappointed

Id really love to have one of these in the US. The CEO of Ford just tweeted that he wants the Puma ST to make it stateside but I hope the Fiesta ST will return. I think they'd be successful in bringing it over if they just gave us the ST models. That's what Volkswagen is doing. They're only giving us the GTI and the Golf R.

That's a great idea! Ford can bring just the ST performance model hatchbacks like what VW is doing - I say the Focus ST actually makes the most sense in our market. Let's all do our part - call or write Ford US Customer Relationship Center and tell them what their American customers want. New I'd say Fiesta. The extra power in the i30N is a big enough jump but for the smaller car, it is more than enough. I really loved it!

Would consider buying - but no automatic version, which I need for health reasons.

These can be very economical indeed for a 200Hp petrol engine. Did a 700 km road trip in mine in a bad weather which forced me to drive very gently and averaged a calculated 5,64L/100km. Trip computer said 5,3L/100km. But rarely do you drive these things gently :D. I still do sometimes wonder if I picked the right color for my car since I bought a black one instead of that Silver Fox one.

I found the drivers seat in the previous generation Fiesta ST too small across the back and I'm not a big guy. I understand that Ford/Recaro have now addressed this? Also, how is night vision lighting on country back roads on both low and high beam?

Fiesta st brilliant car

I was wondering when you going to do this one. It was one of my options to upgrade to from Seat Ibiza cupra 171. Unfortunately my local Ford dealer was not interested in selling me one. A salesman did not even knew there is actual ST fiesta, not just ST-line... They had issue with finding performance pack too, as I asked for it when I tried to spec it. They could not find that option and could not tell me if it comes as standard on irish cars. Led lights is an extra 1k eu too. So its not really 29k car, because with delivery charges, led lights, performance packs ( it was 1.5k eu before in configurator) it becomes 33k ish car. Unfortunately the alternative in this segment is only Polo gti, which is 35k paddy spec and with manual Aircon from 99 caddy van...

Frustrating to hear that, nothing worse when you want to give someone your money. What a car! Fair points on the prices, suppose it's hard not to spec those bits. A two year old Golf R would probably be close in price but for new, this is just great.

@@NobbyOnCars That was my worst dealer experience so far. They never bothered to come back to me with price, trade in value and performance pack details. And that was way before covid lockdown. For hot hatch and a modern car, the performance pack and led lights should be standard. ( *cough* its standard on 24k ibiza cupra ). And I agree with you that those options are a must. Unfortunately when you spec those and 1k eu paint, affordable hot hatch becomes very expensive. And again, I agree, right now, its the best new option you can get, then again, no competition in this segment helps it. No more clio RS, Ibiza cupra, 208 gti, Fabia vrs etc. 34k eu can buy you a demo i30N. Fords pcp apr is very high too, so won't help it. Now, the car it self is very very cool, I agree, I love compact hot hatches, unfortunately we are hit with Irish performance car tax here, which makes it hard to justify.

In Australia the Fiesta ST with sunroof is approximately 39k... The GR Yaris is $39.9k... Best hot hatch for the money goes to the GR Yaris!

Why isn’t AEB (autonomous emergency braking) available on the Fiesta ST, even as an option, like it is on the normal Fiesta?

Because it uses a radar and intercooler doesn't allow it. Same for adaptive cruise control

Don't need the heated seats or heated steering wheel, no mention of how good the air conditioner is. It gets hot down here.

my Tiguan 195bhp consumes more than the Fiesta ST so i would be fine with the ST

The orange peel on the back door at 7:29 looks horrible :O

Personally I prefer a Megane R26 for a quarter of the money. Fiestas are great cars though.

One thing I found with this car is the gear stick feels just that little bit out of reach and I need to just stretch a little when shifting, tried bringing the seat forward to overcome it but then feel too close to the pedals. Never noticed this in VAG cars I have had.

Silver fox

I like these but two things put me off. The fake engine sound in the car (which sounds more I6 than I3 engine) and the big one... The Oil pump on all but the earliest version of the 1.5 3 cylinder is driven by a belt in oil, which is a disaster waiting to happen as the car gets older. Ford went to the effort of fitting a proper chain for the timing gear unlike on the 1.0 Ecoboost but then they let themselves down with that silly bit of engineering. The timing chain has to be removed to replace it...

Veloster N will leave this in the dirt 💯

@@mufkoda8643 crazy. I thought with the performance pack or whatever it’s called 33 or so was the max. It really is a cracking car to drive! But that’s steep.

@@NobbyOnCars I liked the car before watching your video and I like it even more after.. gotta be a little less picky on the panoramic sunroof and LEDs though . Cheers mate

@@mufkoda8643 sunroof will add weight to a hot hatch, you want to keep it as light as possible anyway! 👍🏻

I own a Mk8 ST and I don't have the performance pack. Unless you are taking this to a track I do not really see the point of it. It grips like crazy with the Pilot Sports and it has a pretty good ESP and torque vectoring system. But then again I use this as my daily and aside from a few bursts I rarely really push the car.

Mate said he seen a few cranks on these give way, & blow out the back of the block? Said the next one he gets he will show me what a mess it makes.

Looks decent, but I ain't swapping my 2014 stage 1 pro ceed GT for it anytime soon

Where is the Ford Fiesta ST because in South Africa we just have the normal Fiesta So that’s why I asked Ford South Africa 🇿🇦 where the Ford Fiesta ST is we need something to give the competition a run for their money 🎉
