Did someone say supercharged V8. You see, just 3 years later we already miss these cars. Try getting a fully loaded V8 (supercharged or not) for around 55 grand today in Australia!

im not hating againts the Holden its a very good all rounder my issue is the review, i honestly dont see how this review came out the way it did..yes its not the 1970s anymore but at the end of the day..if your buying a SS for its technology...your buying the wrong car..go buy a Calais the SS and XR8 are targeted to the Performance segment...somthing the XR8 has more of over the SS, its got a GT tuned chassis, the same brakes as the SS, both are five star saftey, so they are both as safe as each other which makes that aspect of the review completely void Ford Sync has already been proven to be a better UI then Holdens, i agree the interior is more up market with better fit and finish then the XR8, i just cannot understand how a performance car built for the performance car segment that ticks all the boxes in what it was built to do lost because one car has slightly more tech kit in it, its so far backwards its not funny i remember in 2003 when the BA and VY were brand new cars, VY SS vs BA XR8, BA XR8, had a better interior, better build quality, better suspension, better IRS, had more standard equipment, scored better in crash testing but because it was slower it lost...on the basis that a performance car should be fast not a all-rounder like it was

Completely agree mate, the SS is a good all rounder family car, but the XR8 is a hands-down muscle car. This review stinks worse than Margaret Thatcher's minge!

The xr8 muscle car ba ha ha ah fuck of, they’re an ugly pile of shit and fast forward to the present day Nobody’s driving them or wasting they’re money on ford shit it all ls chev. Ford built shit rite to the end while all the fan boys were crying out give us a car to remember they sent an fg Ute down the line because they didn’t give a fuck about cars. Holden built the w1 the most powerful car ever sent down the line with the biggest brakes and a dry sump system 470 plus kw vs the useless fg dog box.

For me I'd have to go for the Falcon, I like it's looks more, it's sounds and I know this is an extremely unpopular opinion but I actually kinda like the interior and how it's basic and there isn't too many features.

Xr8 $54,990 , Auto bit more. SS definitley handles better & nicer interior , but the blower is what i like. will look at one in 2017 when they are around $25K :)

Ok so I just watched the Calais vs the g6eturbo before and the Calais was apparently the better choice because it was the better luxury car and they didn't do a performance test which was sketchy because they do both fall into the luxury /Performance category. But now we get to the Performance based models the Xr8 and SSV redline and they recommend the SSV as the better Performance car. (even though it can't match the Xr8 for power). Because it's quieter more comfortable and the interior tech is a bit better mmmkay seems legit.

Depends on what you want I guess - if you want a more engaging drive, the Ford, if you want to be more coseted sitting in traffic, the Holden. Not sure how they got such a terrible 0-100 time with the XR8 - my G6E-t is putting out a little less power but will easily do mid 4's all day every day on sticky tyres.

im neither a ford or holden man, but this video is full of the presenter contradicting himself. Really poor review and not up to scratch.

I hate ford, but I have to give them props for chucking a performance v8 into their car. It may piss off a few gt owners what with the better looks and lower price tag. But in term it really does make me appreciate them a little bit more. You win this battle of the sedans.... but not the battle of the performance sedans :PPP

The ssv redline dosent have enough power for the size of the engine

260KW V's 335KW & you have only 0.5 seconds difference LOL :) My 2015 Redline does 100KM in just under 5's & its only got a KN Factory air filter & DPE rear mufflers. :) Also look at the pricing for both the cars with about the same amount of KMS ?

Y are we still competing with these cars there going to go in2017 lets just be greatful while there hear great vid though

The redline is actually slightly quicker around a track. Far better chassis balance on the VF.

LOL that crapadore put out 200kw at the wheels! that same engine without the supercharger gross over 300kw without it.. how is it built better? justify your argument. i have many reasons to prove the ss crapadore is inferior to the XR8. there's a tuning place in au that funes an f6/xr6t to 1000hp and you can drive it as a daily. poor misguided person you must be. i dont see how you can call a bunch of Australian engineers not as good as Chinese and gm engineers... gm has always had alot more recalls than ford

Did you mention the exterior?? I didn't find it in comparison. The xr8 murders the ssv redline in performance and exterior and tbh I don't think the interior in the xr8 is that bad. Safety ratings are both 5 star. At the end of the day people have there own opinion. Same price for both so if you're a holden fanboy buy the holden if you're a ford fanboy get the ford. Your money your choice be happy with your choice.

If you want to throw a couple grand of basic mods and a tune the fords performance exceeds even further. You'll have a 300rwkw 12 second commy up against a 400rwkw+ 10second capable falcon.

I mean at the time this was literally Fords base level V8, there wasn’t one lower that you could compare with the Holden, and they’re are the same price. So yeah not Fords fault Holden’s base 8 couldn’t keep up Supercharger or not, sounds more like a Holden Issue.

***** well ones an Australian car with an Australian engine. The other is a Vauxhall with a chevy engine. If you put a 6.0L supercharged Ford vs a 6.0L supercharged falcon the Ford would kill it. Infact just go back in time to 2002 get a TEor TS50 with a supercharger vs a new 6.0L chevy supercharger and the old windsor would kill it. Holden is nothing more than a name nothing Australian about it! Its not our fault that you don't get to make your engines they arrive in a crate from canada. For a 2015 model to be putting out 260kws from a 6.0L is sad the 2003 ba xr8 had 260 from a 5.4L

The fools say this over and over whether it be to Wheels mag, Drive or any of the Aussie reviewers. Fact is the Commodore has a very well sorted chassis and interior. The Falcon is the best Ford Australia could do with the budget they had and to me it's not a bad effort. The only better thing about the Ford in reality is the stonking engine and ZF auto. Had manufacturing here not gone to shit I reckon we'd of soon seen an appearance of GM's current 8 speed auto as well as other engine options like the 200kw 2.0l turbo and the 320kw 3.6L twin turbo V6 all tucked under the body of the Holden.

The Ford is a low tech bucket and the seating position is dreadful. Holden LS3 V8...no need for a blower😉

just another daiwoo/ gm dog. -and all of the other top makes from Korea are the same.Ford are also the same with their garbage from uk and north america.I have always supported all great models no wonder who made a great non account type of model! god bless all of you guys!

The entertainment panel in the Ford Falcon is the ugliest in the car industry.

Ford with 75KW more, yet only has a 0 to 100 with 5.2, look at the series tow redline with the 6.2lt quicker again, yet again leass KW by about 30 and the holden wins again all round everything, like i have mentioned before the FORD is just a FG with new front and new rear end looks but the running gear is all FPV, basic's and yet every single FG owner i know had to have the diff fixed before the first 15K service, WTF ? Go holden full stop. :)

The Falcon may be faster, but looks shit...

Steve Q jeez you’ve haven’t been to spec savers at all have you, XR8 looks like a sporty car sporty grill sporty aero design sharp looking wheels and a beautiful body shape with nice red plain brakes that make it look like an undercover Jaguar. ss average. Interior sports car like on ss only point I’ll give you.
