ℹ️ About the episode:
Many subscribers have emailed us asking us about Ford's infamous "Death Wobble". In all the Ford Superduty's we've had (2017 F250, 2019 F450 and now our 2019 F250) we've never experienced it... until now. And as a matter of fact, we haven't experienced since this episode. Regardless, we'll be getting the recall completed and luckily, Trish had no problems controlling the truck while towing. In this episode, we RVed from Lake George RV Park to Hershey RV park while making a quick stop in Scranton, PA for Caleb ;)

I'm a guy, but I have to say your marriage and family are really sweet. How you all interact with one another is so kind. There is an easiness about you all that is so attractive. God bless you all. I'm sure you don't record the annoyances and arguments but you can tell there is such love and friendship.

Mark, as others have said below the ford recall doesnt fix death wobble, it's a bandaid fix which semi covers it up. This is a well discussed topic and the only way to 100% eliminate it is to change your caster shims. This will change the steering angle enough to fix the issue. Death wobble is similar to a bad shopping wheel cart. Increasing your caster angle gets to the root cause and eliminates it. Suggest carli suspension caster shims. Good luck! ( I have them in my 2019 super duty and have never had an issue.)

KYD, I have a 2012 F-350 and it got the death wobble. We had 30,000 miles when we first got it, and it would come on right at 62-65 miles an hour. We took it to a shop who inspected all the linkages and they found nothing loose. What they did find was that all 4 tires had the tread slightly cupped around the edges. We took it to Ford, who sent us to Discount tire. We got new tires (along with a refund for the old ones) and have never had the death wobble again. Later on, I did add a steering stabilizer kit, but ours turned out to be the tires. Good luck with the recall.

Couple of things on the Death Wobble Mark. The steering dampener only masks the problem. A new dampener will help for a little while and then DW will come back. Check the caster on the front axle. Hooking onto a trailer squats the truck, squat takes caster out of the front axle. Usually adding a degree or two of caster will solve the problem plus the truck will hold the road better. You will have less "road walk". Carli makes 2 degree caster bushings, I think the max Ford caster bushing is 1 degree. BTW your video editing and presentation skills are superb!! Thank you for all the wonderful places I can visit through you and your family!!

I am on my second superduty that has had death wobble. I will tell you that by the time you first experience it that some part of your front suspension will be worn out. Having them replace the stabilizer will not fix it. You need to find a really good suspension shop that can figure out what is out of wack and repair it properly. You had me at "it feels just like Fort Wilderness " (my favorite place on earth) Growing up my parents had a Suburban and a 46' Golden Falcon and we went to Disney World from Ontario Canada. The excitement and feeling in my stomach when we saw the sign that said "tune you raido to 123.4 For Disney Information" then the overhead Disneyworld arch and then when you turned into checkin, just before the wood carved Fort Wilderness sign!!! Amazing! One year (during the recession) we didn't have the money to go into the parks, we just spent 2 weeks in Disney world, it was so fun!!!

First all solid front axle (4X4) are susceptible to the 'death wobble". Check out the Ram, Jeep and GMC/Chevyforums. Second, it rarely occurs with rear wheel (4X2) drive vehicles. I ordered and took delivery a month ago of a 2020 F-250 6.7L with RWD for several reasons, including not wanting to be bothered with the "death wobble". I've seen the DW once when a GMC, towing a 5th wheel, had the driver's side front wheel literally bouncing a couple of inches while doing 70 mph. The driver never slowed down and just kept on driving along. After that I see no reason to purchase 4X4. I've done plenty of off road in 2 wheel drive, including towing our 7500lb travel trailer, with very few issues and have even pulled out 4X4 trucks and jeeps stuck for various reasons. Not to say I haven't gotten stuck, but as a cousin who owns a towing company says "4 wheel drive is good for getting you stuck $400-1000 (cost of towing) further in".
