Girl question here..lol where is the fuel filter located on the 2012 F150 5 liter. Some are telling me on the frame,mid point under the truck others are saying it doesn't have one, that the pump does it all. Thank you for your video and your time🙃

The only fuel filter is indeed built into the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank.

Try the relay and fuse first , then the "Fuel pump Driver module" found rusted behind the spare tire , Easy easy fix. may not be the pump at all.

Thank!, Actually in 2009 they removed the inline filter and now it's part of the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank.

You mean the truck doesn’t idle? That sounds like a bad vacuum leak. Does the truck have a check engine light on?

Thank you for the video it was very helpful. I was wondering if you could link where you got your ring and pump. Looking for an aftermarket one. Cause I can't afford that $800 pump. I have a 2014 f150 5.0

I actually got mine from a dealer online village ford parts for $300 plus shipping. You really only want to do this job once. I’d be careful of the cheap ones. And the ring and seal you can get on Amazon.

That's very good advice. I've had luck with other parts on Rock Auto, but I bought a pump for $50 for my Chevy (because it marked as a favorite). 9 months later it went out - in 115 degree weather, with the whole family and miles out of town. Even though I got a free replacement under warranty, I still bought new AC Delco unit, just to not have to do it three times! Orielly's had my 2011 F-150 5.0 pump and ring for $200. Life time warranty. 👍

Yes, plus the low fuel warning light in the center dash. I forgot the code numbers if not in the video

All you do is tap it with a piece of wood and a hammer or buy the tool to remove it. I tapped it with a non metallic wedge to get it off and on.

how did u install the lock ring?

With a spanner wrench, but if you don’t have one you can use a hard plastic mallet with a piece of wood or anything that’s not metal that would cause a spark.

When looking at the video, I see that the lock ring is not fully engaged. The ridges in the lock ring are not turned far enough to sit in the fuel tank metal flanges recesses. The is a lock ring tool that accepts a socket wrench to turn it that last bit.

The video is not about how far to turn a lock ring. You tighten it up the same way you loosen it. Self explanatory.

@@Motorcarnut I get that, but someone watching it didn't see how much force it can take to get the ring set. Some peeps may just think that hitting the ring tangs until it's snug should be enough. Overall, I'm glad that the video was posted

And you really don’t have to remove it all the way if you don’t want to you can just tilt it up like a dump body to get to the fuel pump.
