Stock ones are getting 9-10 seconds, something’s wrong with the car or the driver wasn’t doing full throttle

I have a 4th gen V8 with just a custom tune, 0-60 in 6.5 sec 😎 love that little beast

Jelly, i love my 4th gen but i have the 4.0. I had two third gens as well one 4.0 and 4.6 and the 4th gen is such an improvement its crazy! I thought they were basically the same back then but the 4th gen fixed so many things

Don't let that time fool you, that's a 4 door automatic with what looks like 3.08 gears, for reference I have a 1994 explorer 2 door, same 4.0 engine with a 5 speed manual and 3.27 gears and hit 60 mph in 8.9 seconds..there's something wrong with that automatic first gen's run, most likely a stretched throttle cable not even allowing it full throttle!

That 2nd gen is most likely a 165hp one. That 1st gen one definitely had something wrong with it. Even a 2.3L 112hp ranger was quicker than 18 seconds.

The first generation one definitely should have been faster then the 18 seconds they got, the actual 0 to 60 time’s was more like 9 to 10 seconds.

Wrote this is another reply, but I agree, definitely looks like a 4 door automatic with most likely 3.08 gears. Wow 18 seconds for the first gen. Man, I really don't remember it being that slow but I guess it was. When i turned 16 I spent 1000 dollars on my first car. A 1986 chevy spectrum. That did 0-60 in 47 minutes.

4th gen probably best explorer out there

I honestly can say that as a first gen owner, first gen was in overdrive for the 0 -60 test run, it was supposed to be in Drive not overdrive... 0 - 60 In drive gear is 10.2 sec which is still slow but better result time.

I have a question how does the 1st gen do 18secs and 2st gen does 8.5 what there like the same but 2nd is facelifted

The 5th gen is like the ford taurus

First gen only had the 4.0, the second gen was introduced in 1995 and in 96 they got the 5.0 option and that ran until 01’ when they switched to the 4.6

@@devynarnold6026 the second gen is just a facelifted 1st gen, so yes the 1st gen came in V8.

@@Diabeetus. Not just a facelift. The front suspension is way different on the 2nd gen. They went from an old school TTB setup in the first gen to more modern SLA setup in the 2nd gen.

I own a 2019 sport and I've had 2 trans failures in the first month of ownership but it all got covered under warranty either way but an inconvenience either way but other than that the car is awesome

Or the owner isn't properly maintaining the vehicle, my dad had a 2016 sport and before he sold it at 364k miles, he's never had any issues and it was stage 1 on a Livernios Tune and 3.5 inch borla catback exhaust. @@codybrandoncargle3129

Finally someone agrees with me. The V8 in the later model years of that gen were the best by far.

That 18 seconds is bogus . I've driven a 94 with that engine , I'd say 12 seconds might be about right .

3rd gen is a expedition not explorer

The first one is completely wrong. Its less than 11 seconds. That isn't fast but the smallest amount of research and common sense will tell you that it wouldn't tale a 4.0 Explorer 18 seconds to get to 60.

American cars... more then 18s with 4liter engine and 20liters fuel economy 😂😂😂
