    Thank you so much for being so thorough. Other vids seem to rush through the removal of bolts/cables etc. without explaining how (or where they are located). Yours goes through each step logically and systematically. As someone with very little auto-mechanical expertise, this is perfect and easy to follow. Thank you for saving me a lot of time and heartache :)

    Very helpful to get to the Cam Bearing Caps to check and tighten as everyone suggests after finding they come too loose over time. I don't mind pulling those hoses since I've come across many dry rotted on my 20 year old Escape.

    did the front one last night. a couple things that are not mentioned here regarding the front one: the two front bolts are pretty difficult to get to, very narrow space. got them out with a frankenstein combination of swivel adapter and bunch of wobble extensions. also, the engine hook has to come off in order for the cover to actually come out. friendly tips :) good luck everyone

    This is the same engine with 2006 Ford Fusion SEL v6. However, the design on the Escape makes it much easier to get access to the rear bank. There is much room to work at the back and No power steering container sitting on the valve cover.

    Hi there, I have seen a lot of your videos and there isn't one that I don't like. I did this at the same time I replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils. Is it normal for smoke to come from the engine upon starting for the first time after this? it apparently comes from behind the radiator and between engine and firewall (where the new gaskets are). It doesn't smell like burnt oil, I'm assuming it's the gaskets getting cooked

    I'm working on removing the front valve cover (03 Ford Escape V6) and I'm stuck and not because of any of the bolts. I noticed that I would need to remove the engine lifting bracket but the bolt is so tight and tight fit for breaker bar even with an extension. Do I need to remove the engine lifting bracket? Any suggestions and tips to get the front cover off? Thank you

  • @xerveschex5761

    yes you do. what I did to remove it was pit a pipe over the breaker bar to increase the torque on the socket. had the same problem with he breaker bar. Just make sure to tighten it just as tight.

    I managed to do it without removing the engine lifting bracket, so it is possible. I'm not saying it was easy, it took a lot of wiggling and I had to push the radiator as much as it will go towards the front of the car. That is the key, I think.

    Very frustrating and INCOMPLETE video; only show half the job for one valve cover only. You MUST remove the engine lift bracket on the '03 Escape for bank 2 (closest to the front radiator) and is about impossible to get to the bolt. Must be on a lift and accessed from underneath. Also, if you have original factory gaskets, you'll spend a hour scraping off the melted/stuck residue and pieces of the old gaskets from the head.

  • @pedrogadea4926

    @pedrogadea4926

    Are you kidding me? It is unfortunate that some people will have to scrap old gasket from the mating surfaces, or that you need to remove the engine lift bracket (not that hard) but that doesn't mean his video is not clear enough for anybody to be able to do it on their own. I think he walked us thru the most complicated part, which is removing the intake manifold.
