If you are ever wondering if you have a fuel delivery problem, you can quickly determine if it is true or not by giving a shot of "Quick Start" (the kind with top end lube included) directly into the carb with throttle open. If you then try to start it and it starts and dies or nearly starts (give it another longer shot of quick start) then you know for sure you have a fuel delivery problem and you can go from there.

My son has a Ford 640, if he hasn't started it in a while, even parked inside, he has to open the distributor cap and use a hair dryer to dry it out. Cap back on and fires right up.

I was on a little vacation in Iowa. I'm back in the shop today.

I know what you mean about those distributors where the points use an eccentric screw. A couple of my Olivers are like that and they are nice. Distributors were getting hard to find before - The original Delco distributor went bad on my 1550 and we couldn't get a new replacement, so my Oliver mechanic friend Joe put a Mallory on it, which will work, but it went bad too. Then he replace that with a good used Delco he had in his extensive used parts stash. Now Korves Oliver in Waterloo Illinois reproduces the delco distributors, so I bought 2 to have on hand for the future. Korves is great on a lot of Oliver parts. I wonder if there is an equivalent company for MM's? Anyway, enjoyed the video. Glad you got it running.

I've heard great things about Korves and Maibachs for Olivers. I'm not aware of a company that makes as quite as many different parts for MM's like they do. There is some people that make certain parts and pieces. Just not as large of scale as Korves and Maibach.

Nice Ford 600 you've got there, they make excellent tractors for brush hogging, and with the 5-speed transmission, you should be able to run a tiller with it too!

Wow,a ford,I got a 55 640, this no starting is not uncommon, I ended up with a Pretronix ignition with a fresh 3 ohm coil. Mine was a basket case when purchased,I’d try a shot of ether,if it kicks once,it’s probably carb. Lol,that lookalike you mentioned,it’s certainly could be,China carbs are junk,sounds like you know that. Wish I was there with ya on this? By the way,I like the yer 950,with the heads off,that s gotta be some real muscle. I put Pretronix in my U 302 also. By the way,that ford is a model 650,from the 600 series.
