Ford 3.5 EcoBoost P0106 Wrench Light FIX

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I recently purchased this 2013 Ford F-150 EcoBoost as a mechanic's special due to a rough idle, lack of power and multiple warning lights issue. Initially, I suspected the timing chains as the PCM had multiple codes stored in history for timing, running lean as well as a P0106 MAP sensor performance / range code. I fired the parts cannon and replaced all the timing components, which resolved the cold start rattle and timing codes, but the engine still idled rough, still lacked power and still set a MAP code and lean codes. In the end, it turned out to be a $75 MAP sensor on top of the intake manifold which took 30 seconds to replace. Now the engine runs smooth and has full power.

We feel your pain! Hope those components were at the point of needing changing anyways, so that the extra costs and time right now where not a complete waist. We did learn something about how those 3 sensors work! Thanks for posting!

If I was you I’d also check the intake valves for carbon build up. That could cause run issues. Caused a lot of misfiring for me and I was convinced it was coils or plugs but no, it was carbon on the valves.

This i why i started with checking senors first before doing any big work. Took my car to a shop for a tiing belt and cam position sensor, they recommended the crank sensor as well, got the car back and it ran like shit. I called them and told them exactly what happened but they wanted to charge me a diag fee, i told them i already diagnosed it myself and since the part they recomended was under warranty i got the old one reinstaled for free. Always sensors first. but at least that rattle is gone at start up.

I have ford f150 2014 supercrew same engine.it has p0016 Code. I had the cam shaft sensor replaced but my truck is still accelerate slow while driving, same problem as old. And ecoboost starts when I accelerate higher. Also I don't have rattle noise. We did live data and it cam shaft position sensor 1 bank à shows different numbers with bank B. What could be the problem? Should I check the engine inside or what else should I do?

Changed thermostat in my daughters car. She said she ran it hot a couple time before she remembered to let me know. I did a thermostat. Checked the radiator and water pump. But still having overheating issues after bleeding and bleeding and bleeding the air out of the system. I’m afraid she blew the head gasket. It’s an 04 and we got it cheap nearly 2 years ago so whoopity do.

All the internal work you did was a good idea anyway with 214k on the engine. Chains, guides, sensors and such were due not to mention the water pump. Why did Ford put the water pump INSIDE the engine? Blow a water pump seal and fill the crankcase up with water. What did that Snap-On diagnostic tool cost you?

Regarding the loss of power, rough, idle, and check engine light, yes, this sensor was the whole problem. However, I did find the timing components to be loose, and it also had a rattle on start up. So I think the timing component job was a good preventative measure to prevent future issues.
