Ford 1.8 TDCi Oil Change Essentials

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I get lots of questions about this so here's a video on all you need to know about changing your oil on the Ford Duratorq 1.8 TDCi Focus, Mondeo or Transit Connect.
As always I prefer Mann filters and Morris oil although I'm not sponsored by either (sadly).
Here's the Mann filter:
catalog.mann-filter.com/AR/en...
The Wix filter:
www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/Part...
Morris Ford Spec Oil:
www.morrislubricants.co.uk/pr...
This is how I change the oil on these cars, use this information with reference to the Ford service manual and advice from your professional mechanic.

We have three Fords using 5w/30 oil so I buy it in 20 litre amounts and that saves a lot of money, 5 litres is "free". I always use Ford Formula F and genuine Ford filters from a trade seller on eBay. Oil changes at 6000 miles UK.

  • @SteveRobReviews

The vast majority just look at the weight class of the oil and never go by the manufactures specs. I have seen so many people using the wrong oil because of this. Good of you to mention.

Hello Badgertronix, how is it goin'? Fantastic video - I'm from Italy and I just changed oil in my Ford Focus 1.8 TDci common rail, 115 Hp, construction year 2009, 91000 km - I don't know whether It's exactly the same motor version as yours or not. Anyway I have a simple question but could be crucial: may it be a problem if the oil level is some millimeters over the max ? thank you for letting me your time Bye Franz

I use mann filters almost exclusively these days. Morris oil seems like good stuff. For a start they have a place just down the road from me in Shrewsbury. I've been running quite a few vehicles on their stuff and am even considering switching over to their stuff for my own vehicle from Castrol.

I always try and get Mann whenever possible although sometimes it's hard over here. Morris is great stuff and the NZ distributor is 10 minutes down the road from me. Buying direct makes it cheaper than the big brand alternatives.

Do you not need to fill the oilfilter with oil before you put it back. Thankyou

  • @techman9894
    @techman98943 жыл бұрын

Little tip. Put a rag over the aluminium bracket (think its the steering rack) beneath the oil filter, the bracket is recessed on the top and will fill up with oil. This oil will drip on the floor over the period of a few days. This looks like the filter is leaking. So u go back under and give the filter another little tweek. This is the last thing u want to do given the pain in the ass job it can be getting these filters off.

Hahaha, this was far more enjoyable than it should have been! Just a tip for ya... Can't see the lube when you dip your stick? Wipe it off, dip it again, pull it out, wrap it in a paper towel and give it a good squeeze around the tip. Wherever the level is on the stick, will leave a stain on the paper towel in the same spot. Just don't get too excited and slide up or down the dipstick! Gotta keep everything steady~ :D

I know that if I drop 5 and a bit litres in it will be fine. The oil is cleaner than usual after a change but you'll have to wait until next week's video to find out why 😉 Have a great New Year my friend
