FORCLAZ TREK 900 BACKPACK REVIEW

Forclaz Trek 900 Backpack Review.
bit.do/Buy-Forclaz-Trek-900
Co-creation Story: A backpack designed by Trekkers for Trekkers.
We had the opportunity to work on a new project. The replacement of Quechua Symbium 70+10. Testers from different countries(France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, UK, India) were invited to co-create a dream backpack for multi-day trekking.
During this process, we tested a number of backpacks from many popular brands to find out what we liked, what we didn't and what we would want more.
After rigorous testing, using and abusing the prototypes in the Morrocan Atlas and French Alps,Trek 900 was born.
A backpack which many of the regular trekkers would appreciate.
I hope you find the review useful :)
Cheers!

    I just bought this today for a projected 4 day hike to the Grand Canyon. I immediately put into it: a tent, a sleeping bag, a rolled up sleeping pad, a cooking pot. When I actually take the hike, i still have to carry hiking socks, shorts, extra pair of shoes for night-time, hiking poles, food, water bladder, first-aid/cleaning hygiene, jackets. It seemed to carry lightly, without effort. It seems spacious and durable.

    Hi, as this is a trekking focused bag. It doesn't have a suitcase style locking facility. However I suggest to get a plane cover that you can cover the whole backpack if you are planning to take flights, trains or buses. Not only the plane cover will keep everything secure due to the lockable zips but also all the straps of the bag that can get caught in places will also be hidden. Hope this helps.

    @takeme2themountains

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks :) Sorry had to keep the video as short and crisp as possible, hence couldn't show all the how to's. However adjusting this bag is a piece of cake. It's very similar to the existing range of Forclaz backpacks available at Decathlon. You just have to pass the flat strap through the webbing located on the spine of the backpack and secure it. Here is the link of official Quechua- how to guide kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJuL1aOFndjFfrw.html. Regarding the comparison with Lowe Alpine Diran, I really can't say much as I haven't had my hands on that bag yet. Though with the videos on KZread I can say the padding looks good but as it lacks the internal compression straps and shoulder width adjustment that Trek 900 has, the weight distribution may not be as good. But only a real test with weights can tell the truth. Hope that helped. Cheers! :)

    Hi Ravi, This is an excellent bag review. I am an extensive traveler and I do take a lot of flights where I might have to check this bag in. The video doesn't show how the main bag looks like after detaching the top sling bag. Will the rest of the main bag be exposed with just the tethers to tighten it or it should be acceptable to check-in at the airport? I'm not too concerned if it will be safe from theft because virtually all bags, even with locks are not safe. I am only concerned if airlines refuse to check in the baggage because of the top part which may look very open with just tethers to tighten it and may not hold the content within. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much!

    Hi Manj, apologies for the delay in responding. KZread took a backseat. Anyway I am very sure you probably already have sorted your bag questions by now. But just an update the revamp model doesnt come with removable top part as it was not used by people as much as the company thought it would be during the time of conception so they chose to remove it and the lid now is stitched permanently. Also I noticed the bag was going quite tall above the head(especially the 90l version) after stuffing something between the lid and the bag in the previous version so I think it's a good improvement. Makes the bag more stable. Anyway do let me know where all did you go with your new bag and how it felt?

    Hi Sina. Hope you doing good. Apologies for a massively late reply. The numbers on the website are guidelines for users who want to know how much weight they should carry. You probably know this already that an average trekker can carry comfortable weight of 20-25% of their body weight. But then Nepali sherpas carry 70 to 90% of their body weight. So an 80kg trekker might carry only 20kgs before he/she starts to feel the load on back and knees especially if the trek is a multiple day trek in difficult terrain. To make it easy for first time buyers the weight guideline is there. This bag won't tear of you stuff it with 30kg and carry it. Of course it all depends on weight distribution too. Let me know which bag did you decide on and what you discovered during your research. Would be nice to learn something new. Cheers!

    How is this different from the similar looking trek 700

  • @takeme2themountains

    @takeme2themountains

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Ivy, the trek 900 is made with heavier(bigger zips, straps, buckles and 600 denier fabric) materials for heavy duty use. A user who wants to carry everything on their own in the mountains for many days. This type of user would carry anything from 15 to 25kgs( max weight you want to comfortably carry is 1/3 of your body weight, people do carry more at times but that's their choice). The trek 700 on the other hand is for a user who may be going hut to hut and might not carry everything or even if they do, the key thing on their mind is lightness. This type of user usually would carry from 8 to 15kgs. Hence the choice of materials for trek 700 is different. It's 300 denier rip-stop fabric(much lighter than the trek 900 fabric which ultimately makes the bag much lighter than 900), with one less bottle compartment on the side, top lid doesn't become a separate messenger bag, back adjustment system is different, doesn't have the shoulder width adjustment and a few more differences. I may do a review soon on the 700 too. Hope this was helpful! Happy trekking :)

    Hi Saleh, There is Decathlon in Egypt. I am sure you can just visit the store and give a request to bring this bag to your beautiful country. :)

    Hi ! What's the HEIGHT of the main compartment/pocket (maybe a close view of it, from the top...?), WITHOUT the "cap" ? I want to "fit" well an 80 cm high object into it . Is it waterproof ? Thank you !

    Hey Neel, sorry for late reply. The 50+10 might be a perfect fit for women. Its just the right volume and also has the same torso and shoulder adjustment. So you can adjust not only the height but also the width of the shoulders. Cheers!
