Force USA G12 vs. G15 vs. G20- DETAILED All-In-One Trainer Comparison Review

Спорт

I had an audience member ask why I chose the Force USA G15 over the G12 and G20 All In One Trainers.
In this video, I compare all 3 of these products and see if I made the right choice.....or have buyer's remorse.

Thanks Stevie - great summary for people to think about. I’ve got the G20 and I think it is great - no buyers remorse. I would say though that if they design that to have both 1:1 and 2:1 ratio, that would be mind blowing as I do find for certain exercises (e.g. lateral raises and cable flyers), I would have benefited from having a 2:1 ratio. Having said that, I just simply use dumbbells or bands for lateral raises and so all good. The reason why 2:1 only is a deal breaker for me is the amount of weight I use for exercises like lat pull downs and low cable rows (which I prefer to do on a single pulley), which would exceed 150 pounds. Btw, I find the vertical leg press on the Smith Machine fantastic. I do use an ab support mat under my back just to provide some additional comfort and support, but it all works great and is easy to get use to. Thanks again for your content - been helpful in me making the decision to buy the G20.

Thanks Stevie for all the great analysis/breakdowns of the various G series gyms. I am leaning toward the G12, for two main reasons...the price being $1k lower than the G15+upgrade and the 1:1 pulley. I am 50yrs old and in good shape, but not as strong as you, so I am curious if you are find the G15 stacks with the 2:1 ratio to light for things like lat pulldowns and low rows? I generally do 140/150lbs for those exercises, so I am thinking the G15 in 2:1 might be too light. But I am also concerned that my wife might find the G12 in 1:1 too heavy. Any thoughts on that? Thanks again.

Hey Harry, Thanks for watching the comparison video and your question. When it comes to lat pulldowns and standing rows on the G15, I attach the included bar on both pulleys which makes the cable pulley ratio 1:1. Also, I don’t do seated rows that heavy so I can do one of the 2:1 stacks without issue. When it comes to the G12, it’s a great value for what you’re getting and has more interior working space than something like the G6. Also, people with lower ceilings usually choose the G12. All in all, the G15 doesn’t personally inhibit me with most of my exercises on a single stack. Also, that 4:1 ratio makes much lighter exercises for my wife and myself open up smaller incremental weight adjustments. However, the lower price of the G12 along with the 1:1 ratio 200 pound weight stacks still makes it a great value. @@StevieRichardsFitness Thanks Stevie. My only other concern (not being able to touch the machines myself) is that the G15 says it is built with 11 gauge steel, the the G12 seems to be 12 gauge. Any flex, or rocking or instability in the G12 when doing something like pullups for instance? Feature-wise, I prefer the G12, but don't want to end up with something that is not as structurally sound that I will regret. I am not throwing around 500lbs or anything, so the weight capacity is not a worry, just really want something high quality. Thanks for all your guidance.

Something else to keep in mind is 2:1 ratio tends to give more cable length so you can work further away from the machine for better functional training. How the physics works on most machines is you are lifting the weight off the stack half the distance you pull the cable. So the weight is lighter but you are less likely to hit the weight against the top of the machine when doing large movements. I'm hoping this is also the case with the G15. It would be great to do a comparison as to how far you can pull the cable on each. I have purchased the G15 and upgrade kit based on your videos. Just waiting for it to arrive. Thanks for all the info, you have reached as far as New Zealand 🇳🇿

Can you fit the Force Bench in the G12 to use the smith machine for flat and incline press? One of the comments said the depth of the G12 was too short to use the smith machine for bench presses.

Hey Kevin, I can see how the G12 can be tight for bench pressing for taller people. It was close for me at 6’2” and that’s why the G15 was the choice for our current gym space.

I’ve just bought the G12 and actually i’m not so happy with the 1:1 ratio. I find it too heavy for some isolation exercises. Is there a way to change the system to a 2:1 ratio?

I believe the 2:1 ratio is in the way the cabling is setup. Contact their support and ask if there is a DIY solution. The reason against the 1:1 you stated is why we are satisfied with the G15- 2:1 and 4:1 ratios make for great scalability.
