Well, it's not quite THAT simple. You have to work hard AND keep pursuing advancement in profitable industries. Lots of poor people work very hard, many of them have multiple jobs, but it's not enough to just work hard. You have to apply your efforts in the right direction. Shahid Khan made a good choice going into engineering. I have to wonder if Khan got any scholarships for college. Also, it should be noted that Social Security has done a lot to ease poverty among the elderly.

Really disheartening how many citizens are born here in America and cry woe is me, and do not move towards achieving their dreams and goals. I do not say all. This guy shows up in a blizzard, knowing no one, very little money to his name, no car, no family to go live in their basement, and wa-lah, he owns an NFL franchise.

The points where he got a job at the company he would later buy and where he got a business loan would very likely be points at which black and Hispanic people would have been denied. He was poor at one point, true. but his eventual success still depended on those in power giving him a chance. That doesn't happen for many people who are more talented than him.

That’s way more than he paid. 770 million is what he paid just a few years back for a team with a very similar prestige/market etc. He could sell tomorrow and make a billion dollars off of the investment. And no way the NFL is going anywhere anytime soon.

there are poor people who work hard, there are poor people who don't, there are rich people who work hard, and there are rich people who don't. Working hard has nothing to do with it, I think that there are certain cases where the government needs to step in, particularly education and healthcare. Everyone deserves to be well educated and healthy, that's when capitalism thrives, but if everyone is stupid and sick, and never had a chance to begin with because they happen to be born poor is bad.

There's always a crucial "scene missing" in most rag to riches stories. How did he buy Flex-n-Gate? The company would cost at least several million dollars. There's no way his small company which he started with less than 100k grew to netting millions in profit in just two years. He either got a major break from somewhere or is outright lying about how things happened.

some of us dont like the idea of a british NFL team. Some of us dont like the NFL. Some of us think american football is a lame game that stops every 10 seconds. Rugby, now thats a game
