Matsutake or Pine mushrooms are highly prized in Japan. The aroma is intoxicating. Good with rice or sautéed with butter

I like watching mushrooms foragers hunt for mushrooms and I would like to know how these matsutakes tastes like. Also maybe you can educate us more on where these mushrooms like to grown near like pine trees; how to find them like hidden under moss, plants, etc; and look alike that aren’t edible.

They are also known as pine mushrooms, growing where there are pine trees. Find them with moss bear grass and salal plants. Tasty and amazing spicy scent.

Nice find, brother. Great video. Its a good year for matsutake this year. Hopefully the weather not getting too cold and keeps it above freezing or snowing so more mushrooms are still popping up.

What area of Gifford Pinchot did you forage in? I keep going out to Gifford but I can't find anything. Any tips would be extremely appreciated. Thank you for sharing your videos they are great.

Near Packwood area. Go into some of the forest roads and just explore

Do people have to have commercial licsense to forage? And what type of licsense just to pick and eat? How much are allowed to take home?

Some parts of the national forest in Washington required a special forest product permit to remove products from the forest. The permit is free for personal usage. Some places have a limit of 2 gallons per person.

Wow do you have an email that I can email you for more info? I really want to find some and not much luck with those also by myself with a dog. So packwood is still a long drive for me and haven’t been to there.
