I understand they tried to keep the character original along with the new addition of lionheart .. but its just not enough They could had at least buff his poking game to help him a bit especially the lows. Could had give him a plus frame mid .. maybe not as tracking as feng new move

They should remove Lion heart after db3,2, bring back knockdown and guaranteed 3+4 d2. There is no reason to duck Steve in T8. That's why Anakin was so surprised when that Reina was so scared of stomp. Low pokes are ok. D1 , FC.df+1 and especially d2,1 is now even stronger because low parries are nerfed in T8. Another thing they should maybe change is easier input for 2 break grab. Something like db2+4 or 2+4b.

Steve definitetly suffers from the still playin T7 problem. Lion Heart needs buffs. If you know the matchup it's literally a mixup stance that puts steve at disadvantage. If you know to power crush it then all he can do is attempt to dodge your power crush or do the 1f kara cancel to PKB.

@@mdanialsanchez pretty sure the pkb cancel everyone's been talking about can ONLY be execute if the first 3 before 3+4 is exactly 1f before inputting the 4. Which in my mind is nor consistent enough to be competitively viable as a tactic.

It's too much work to call out a power crush from + 7 with a throw. The mid and throw can also get backdashed after stomp when you can just weave most power crushes anyways. From +11 heatsmash is good though I guess. If they buffed lnh frames or guardbreak reward lnh would be usable

Even before the tech he can still duck cancel from lionheart to block anything. Its only really good if u can do it fast enough to take advantage of the frame which is veryyyy strict

as a steve main, i think this Steve is the most satisfying version of himself though

People who say, Steve doesn’t deserve big buffs in this game are the people who have Steve’s infinite PTSD get over it’s not in the game anymore

Knee: "I initially said Steve is bad. But in Pakistan, Arslan, Atif, and a player called Numan CH who is very good at Paul and Steve - They said Steve is good. I said, "Oh really?" and I asked Atif, "If you're playing in a tournament, you think you'll pick Steve?" and he was like "No". So I laughed and said "Yeah, I think Steve is fine for ranked matches too". I mean, in ranked you can climb by playing enough matches. But in tournaments? Atif said "No." That's what I thought, I'm not going to play Steve in tournaments either."

Steve has the same problems as always, but now they've been amplified by the stronger movement across the board and having a pretty underwhelming heat mode compared to others. Back one and down back 3 still go brrrr though.

@DDP637 try it in heat. Lion heart having the auto parry will really check people who don't know and try to punish the string like normal. But yeah, not great anymore in the neutral.

B1 isn't like what it used to be.. he's pretty trash tbh compared to what most of the cast gets. I guess because he has been good for so long they decided to gut the character

Back1 has a fat hitbox now. And rocket punch, sonic fang, running2 heat is great. I think he's underrated now and still great. Mad they took away the shiro though df2 is hella mid now.

Steve is my highest ranked character 😅

Steve is balanced which is a problem because most other chars arent. He only needs 3 things to make him viable on a more consistent level. 1. Grab from lionheart that goes into 2 faced without heat. While adding a 1+2 option that launches by using his torando up as the pop up. 2. PAB d+2 being an i22 startup 3. Always counter mids during Lionheart and during heat counter mids AND highs. ***bonus*** making CH B1 15 dmg

Can't figure the gameplan for Steve. Like, not really good lows, suicidal lionheart stance (i don't know, if the pkb cancel still exist, i couldn't make it work even once), no simple launcher, counterhits are too hard to hitconfirm (at least those that i've seen, may be i just don't know something), damage is mediocre at best, almost no plus frames, range on most hits is not good either, character demands very high execution and doesn't really offer something good in exchange. Gonna keep practice though, what else can i do, i like the character...

steve got nerfed giga hard but his new ub3 into lionheart is suuper good catches even people who know the matchup because it’s new and not used that much. also his powercrush is super good 4 or 3 12 is also super good at the wall everything else is mid at max haha he could stay like this if the top tier get nerfed otherwise he needs some dmg buff.

Man I'm just gonna say it.. Steve needs a huge buff. I know they made him good in all the other Tekkens, but holy shit he is a massive let down in Tekken 8.

As a person who has loved playing steve since he came out and actually taking Tekken seriously when T8 came out, I really feel like Steve just gets beat out so easily by anyone who decided to just sit back and wall Steve out. So many times, I will bust my heat smash on their block and they just simply power crush or use their rage art for the win.

You should approach his heat smash differently. if you have heat you have more than just your heat smash for plus frames. I use his heat smash for whiff punishing ONLY.

Them not giving him any new usable lows hurts. I take advantage of qcf2 being able to be done from crouching and also try me best to land heat engagers. Then I can encourage them to crouch from using the heat exclusive duck throw

Bro if they block your heat smash (+8)and you have a read that they will press something mash 1 immediately (don't delay it!) this will always beat Rage Art, Burst or any Power Crush. If they block it you will lose your turn, but you're still safe at -9. You have to remember that after some moves you are in Lion heart, but +8 (blocked HS) +11 (ws2,2 and f2,2 on hit) +14 (ub2 on hit) In these situations armor moves can't do shit to you. Only when you're +7 (db3,2 b1,2 etc) or +3 armor moves unfortunately beat every single LH option. Of course some characters can parry your Lion Heart 1, but very unlikely in FT2 set.

@@KrisDee1981 At +3 or +7 you PAB cancel and throw to counterhit throw the armor move, or just do a bare PAB cancel into low or standing block if they've been mashing. You can also PAB 2 for the punch parry if they've been extra predictable. People are too scared of that cancel; you can get it consistent

@@TkAnakin I am jammed at battle ruler I need to get into the matchups to be more comfortable. Ill hit a while standing12, jab, and they will just mash while standing and launch , I have to get my situations down. Sometimes I get clipped and feel like i have no control lol. Steves i13 mid isnt huge reward, sonic fang is nuts at -14 but negative. I just got to put in the work

​@@Edcas1226df1 is still a good poke. Animation looks like it doesn't have range, but actually it's reaching far with descent hitbox. 2 has a really good range in T8, but for some reason I always forget to use it more for punish, and whiffing 1,1,2 sometimes 🤦‍♂️

Lion heart is the problem… also saying Steve was broken?… really… where?… we just gonna ignore the actual broken characters? Cuz Steve was never one of them just very strong in the right hands where Akuma, kuni, prekilled fakum, prekilled Leroy, Noctis, could actually be considered broken

b1 still broken: ch launches, safe on whiff. Also has the low plus on hit low that frame traps into a ch launcher. That's all you need for the character to be broken tbh. Just because he lost d/f+2 homing and combo and lost the KND from hellsweep just means he's less broken, it doesn't make him not a broken top tier.
