    This man obviously loves his car. I completely get how attached he's become to his C6 over nine years of ownership. And the car is a design thoroughbred. Quirky and chic in the best Citroen tradition. Thanks for sharing your passion.

    Great review 👏 I've owned a 2.2hdi exclusive in black for nearly 3 years now and love it! Loaded with tech for it's time but obviously a bit outdated from touch screen stuff nowadays. Heads up display, electrically adjustable steering wheel, auto lights/wipers, heated front and rear seats. Dual climate, cruise, double glazing etc etc. Lovely comfortable car which smoothes out most of bad roads and great for long journeys. Feel fresh getting out after a few hours driving. Apart from normal consumables like a couple of bushes the only thing i had to replace was power steering pump which is hydro electric on the 2.2hdi. Also 2 doors the central locking solenoids failed but apart from that it's not been the horror story some armchair experts would have you believe all french cars are! Mine is also a 6 speed manual which isn't very common. Sport mode does noticeably firm things up but don't expect a sports car!!😂All in all i love it as a comfortable daily companion!

    "Art Deco" was only coined far later based on the name of a design show in Paris in I think 1915. So it's really what was modern between WWI and II, so there's a lot of evolution in style from "zig zag" to "streamline moderne." Those slots are sort of like speed lines showing up in the later period. It's a modern ART (of the time) and often geometric rather than tradition based kind of design era. Also love a lot of it, from early to late.

    Great review Mark, lovely car, real future classic. Had a couple of C5s and loved them, real crusing cars to soak up the miles, used to drive to Italy and back in them. i understand they were kept in production for the French Diplomatic Service

    Ah, the diesel C6 has DPF issues too. Of course, the C5 VTR+ had hydropneumatic suspension, as opposed to the steel springs of the lesser C5 mk2 cars. Or perhaps yours was a mk1 C5, in which case they were all hydropneumatic.

    Thanks for the correction on the wood. Sorry about that! Unusual to have a petrol in Spain I imagine! Is it originally from Norway? (I recall that there seem to be a reasonable number of Norwegian petrol C6s)

    @@markporthouse No, I rescued it in bad condition from Bavaria and drove it for some years in the Frankfurt area. Took it to Barcelona when I moved in 2022. I will keep it as long as possible and perhaps convert it to electric in a few years. I think it's very fitting for that type of car.

    No, it’s from trying to reset everything because as Citroens do random things weren’t working but I forgot the battery was in the back so I lost a bit of timing on it and a friend came round and as I said careful with that door don’t slam it, you can imagine what happened. It may be useful for you to know that mine cost £10,400 6 weeks ago. To me it’s worth that because it’s immaculate inside and out 33,000 miles accurate and full services tcetera with one owner so that might give you a ballpark figure and help you get the price. Yous is well worth that money and the ones I looked at there were three or 4000 we’re all dogs . Good luck with the sale and have a good Christmas.. PS, my previous four cars in reverse order was an ID4, Tesla M3 x 2 and TMS . I’ve always had big Citroen before, and I’ve gone back to a big Citroen which I love despite its idiosyncrasies, but the main reason for going back to diesel or petrol. It’s because the governments total lack of support for the charging infrastructure and ability to actually manage the companies that are ripping customers off. I think £.93 /kilowatt hour I’ve seen which is just robbery so bit of a round but I’m very happy with my car and it’s cracked window which I’ve just replaced this morning. It was way down a listing on eBay so I can pick it up on the seventh yippee kaye!

    Glad you are on top of the window situation. You are the one who bought the 3.0Hdi a couple of weeks ago then. I was curious what that sold for. Great car - I had a ride in a 3.0Hdi a couple of years ago - fast.

    I have a C6 (3.0 litre / 241hp diesel) with 330k km mileage. Would you recommend keeping it? It starts to tear apart slowly, e.g. the generator had just died.

  • @markporthouse

    @markporthouse

    6 ай бұрын

    I don't know much about the diesels, other than the 3.0HDi is a much better engine that the 2.7HDi. It all depends if the car has been well maintained so far, if it has then you will simply slowly continue to spend. I would budget for 500Euro maintenance per year, over and above tyres. Better the devil you know!
