"Unopposed under crimson skies Immortalized, over time their legend will rise And their foes can't believe their eyes, believe their size, as they fall And the dreadnoughts dread nothing at all." - the song "Dreadnought" by Sabaton from their "The War to End All Wars" Album.

I never figured the Anchorite would become such an interesting character when I read about him in the book. And yet here he is showing up a bunch. The book made me think the whole thing was a throw-away bit. Seems I was wrong.

I have been mulling over a writing a story surrounding a Crusade era Ultramarine Captain who was entombed in a Leviathan Siege Dreadnought who was later buried in a landslide during a battle with the Word Bearers and counted as lost for 10 millenia until an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor happens upon him and recruits him to hunt down a Word Bearer Champion. I haven't worked out just how plausible all the details are per the lore but videos like this make me want to go back and keep digging on it.

Imagine not knowing why your father left you behind as you try to keep his people alive. Even mortality wounded you continue your oath to protect them. Watching as the people took a path that your father's father despised. Be revered or even worshipped by those that came to bring your people low. And to battle your fathers most hated foe revealing the millennium of hate within you. Bjorn the fell handed is a hero but do he still thinl himself as one?

One thing almost entirely unique to the Contemptor dreadnought and it's variants* is that i acts as a almost complete replacement for the space marines body. this is why they are so fast and agile, the spacemarine esque appearance and the simulacrum of a head. *(also applies to Telemon pattern as well.) This is just speculation not fact.

It is immensely sad that the process to become a dreadnoughts has to be that terrifying as well.

They might make fun of his drip, but you gotta remember he's old as hell in a universe where most Warriors die young. Death was only the beginning, they don't want what Grandpa dread can bring about.

Bjorn The Fell-handed was my introduction to w40k. Ive yet to find a game for my measly 800pt army but that hasn't stopped me from attempting to convert Bjorn into a Emperor class Titan! If the idea of "even in death, i serve" doesn't tickle your fancy, I'd suggest paying $7 for warhamer tv and watch Angles of Death. Moriar will make you feel

The thing I like most about Dreadnoughts is that they always feel like they have a rich history and that they are heroes of the past walking in the present. The ageless guardians idea that we see the Dark Angels have with two of their Dreadnoughts and the former chief librarian of the Blood Angels who sits alone to guard the Chapters most dangerous relics is a great use of them as well. Will say that the Great Crusade era ones are my favourite design followed by Primaris and then boxnought.

Fun fact: Being a Chaos Dreadnought is so much worse than being an Imperial Dreadnought. Also, someone once said Dreadnoughts were meant to be temporary wheelchairs for warriors during the Dark Age of Technology which means humans had a way to heal those types of injuries...

Great job on the vid, Super good, especially the animations, those can't be easy. I do wish the Imperium would vest some effort into the Proto-dreadnought. Not having to be interred into that sarcophagus and able to field more of the dreadnought war walkers would be such a boon!
