Better Review summary from someone with a more pragmatic and practical mindset: Is this game WORTH the ridiculous 60-80 dollar price point for initial purchase? HELL NO. Should have been canned, thrown back on the table and reworked from scratch, with ZERO microtransactions and better EVERYTHING. This hunk of flaming dog shit should NOT have been sold, especially since the final beta ended TWO DAYS before release. WHO DOES THAT? Doesn't that sound shady to anyone else?

It is incorrect. Personnel is a different word than personal. You had the right word in your original post. Personnel is the word you say when you are talking about people in a base or something. For example, "The base is fully staffed with 30 personnel." Personal means something that is you-based. "This is personal for me." TL:DR You used the word right. Mythical Randler was thinking of a different word with another meaning.

yeah, i never saw any of this in the open beta, it ran smoothly and hardly ever had to recover connection, i don't know how many light years away he was from the servers, if he was experiencing all this.

I will always remember what a guy said in for honor when he fought with no honor and I called him on it and this is what he said “we are fighting for honor not with honor” that was one of the smartest fucking thing I’ve heard!

there is NO gear inbalance... for fucks sake.. i have beaten lvl 100+ gear players with my lvl 10+ character. i have also WOM several matches where the entire enemy team consisted of people with purple item level, whereas my team only had the generic grey 0-20 item lvl. i havent spent a dollar on Microtransactions. and i am killing it in most matches, and i have a total 10000 steel

@Züriach Ok, from what you say there is no "gear" imbalance... that's great. I don't see the point in this "progression" gear at all. It should be just matchmaking with ranks, like cs go. That's the most logical progression in this kind of competitive game to be honest. However, the lagswitch tactics on the peer to peer worries me. I was actually planning to get this game on sale or something... but peer to peer... In the Beta it wasn't really that bad, (just the pauses were annoying). I hope they add dedicated servers.

Rhianna Dahmer, yep, breach, not to mention an entirely new fourth faction that contains four new heroes immediately out the gate, and some visual changes to the stages. The only ones currently available for visual changes is river fort, temple garden, and the samurai arena stage, but so far, they look way better, absolutely beautiful.

I just have to say I am always so impressed with Joe's work, there are countless of other KZreadrs and reviewers but none comes close to the amount of sheer honesty and quality Joe puts into these reviews. Not even heavily funded official review, multi million dollar companies can come anywhere near this caliber of appreciation and commitment to the games Joe plays and the reviews he creates. As for this game I have it on PS4 but I prefer the 60fps PC port as I feel the frame rate makes all the difference in a game dominated by online hand to hand combat where reaction time is key so input lag and screen refresh rate needs to be up to speed to fully enjoy a game like this

@@Daggz90 the game was not unfinished. They tried peer to peer servers which were horrible but since have been replaced by dedicated servers. The combat system and gear system have recevied overhauls and quality of health updates that greatly improve the balance of the game. The at release combat and its state were not the fault of the developers. The whole system was brand new and learing how to properly balance the fight mechanics is very difficult and has been an ongoing process to the point where the next big update will be arriving In August for it. Ubisoft could have just said well we got your money so see ya. Instead they took the time to rebalance the entire combat experience from connection, to gear, to character balance, to game modes. They re did all of this while introducing new heroes, maps, modes and even a new faction in the Wu Lin. Saying no game deserves praise because of how it launched is rediculous. Sure you hold them accountable for it but to say it cannot be turned or is not worthy of praise when it does things right only serves to tell publishers to cut ties with properties rather than to do what has been done here. I find your comment out of touch, out of hand, and out of any actual merit for consideration of any sort of nuanced justifiable opinion.

RajunCajun34 is great game but it has some bugs like some ninjas(chicken) all bugged characters lol. And the duel areas suck. They should add areas like in spartacus tv show and to fight 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 or 6 against big ass gladitors (bots ) some of them riding horse with swords at the tires and moving around the arena if they catch u they cut u in half.... If they do that then the game is 10/10 but for now is only 7/10

Excalibur 4249 in sorry but I've played the game for awhile and DLC characters are very overpowered compared to there OG counterparts. There is also the fact they changed the parry system which sucks. Until they have a full rework of all the characters. It wont get better, for now it's a meh.

I’m from the future joe and they added a new faction and fixed the net code also added more heroes to the factions that were already there

It is interesting to come back to this review after watching the Netflix documentary Playing Hard. Basically what worked on day zero was what Jason VandenBerghe put his hands on up until the end (script, story, sound, ambience, gameplay...)

They intended for the game to be a fighting game. However, they forgot that the reason fighting games uses p2p is because 1. There are only two players in any given instance and 2. fighting games are very reflex dependent with moves ocurring from as little as 8 frames of animation(so even small lag has a large impact); whereas animation in for honor often takes 18 to 20 frames to happen.

It's free on uplay from 11-18 june I've tried it And so far love it, since i got it for free there's not much to complain, i mainly play the single player campaign, a couple of quick matches but mostly the story mode. Enjoying the fresh take on the combat mechanic tbh kinda remind me of Mount and blade with an added compexity

the combat mechanic is actually just a rip off from the newer version of sid meiers pirates with some tweaks and upgrades of course. upper attack, body attack, lower attack. basically the same as in for honor.

Nicholas Marashio Well the in game currency is a thing, but you can still earn everything, the only time I bought silver is if I was working with multiple characters and wanted to customize them, but I don’t anymore cuz most of my characters are where I want them now (cosmetic wise) and I got plenty of silver from game play.

Nicholas Marashio Yeah, it’s really addictive. I keeps me hooked more than Siege ever could. I do agree like after you do all your challenges it does get grindy, but the gameplay is so satisfying! And once an a while I get in a pinch and I’ll maybe drop 10 bucks for a few executions for a new character I tried out lol it’s a love hate relationship at times but damn I love that game

they don't want a game with longevity, they want to sell you a sequel

It shouldn't be. And I think they're starting to realize that. For example, Halo 5 had no split screen and 343 has said all future Halo fps games will have split screen. So they obviously got the message. Why can't we send the same message to Ubisoft? Why can't we say we won't put up with your bullshit DRM practices, with always online servers, yet only peer to peer. It's not good enough and we deserve better.

They finish releasing the season pass 3 and now we have 26 Heroes and its amazing for more content from 2016 to 2020, All of this is FREE !!! That's quite long journey for ubisoft even the player base is small not like rainbow 6 siege But they brought a lot of content Love the game i hope it will continue for more years

"LAG SWITCH". The footage used for that argument is not right. If you actually try to look at what's actually happening, you'd know. You are fighting an AI, and then the AI gets replaced, that's why he disappeares. He gets replaced by a player. Look at the chat and the name of the character. 2:24 and 3:42

I love role playing in the story. It really makes you feel like a gifted warrior, a god among men. It makes me feel like I was a part of those wars. So I didn’t care about the story. It was the battles that I was there for.

I'd love to see a follow-up review on FH nowadays, game is in a MUCH better state now.

That's the problem with Ubisoft. They make good games with good gameplay and then they just shit all over it with extremely bad decisions like peer to peer connections or pay to win microtransactions etc. It's a really fun game, but still sucks in a lot of ways.

I was frustrated by this in the video too. Still, the fact that it does happen makes PvP matches where bots fill in really unpredictable and almost not worth sticking around for. They ought to fix it so that bots who are engaged in combat or even near another player will not be swapped out until out of combat or killed. Players joining the match can just spectate for a few moments while a slot frees up.

Glad I waited on this game, got it half off with a lot of issues fixed. Still has some, but apparently Ubisoft is actively working on this game. I think it's really fun actually.

Joe said blatantly false things, there is no pay to win, the season pass will not divide players (literally all it is is a week of exclusivity for new heroes nothing else). Some valid criticisms were made, i.e. Servers.

Coming back and seeing this review now is very nistolgic for me seeing how the game used to look vs presently.

The people disappearing are bots getting replaced by joining players. It's a dumb system, but at least those weren't cheating players.

MrPikachu - What sort of idiotic reply is that? Having the game pause whilst a new player joins is a massively flawed game design in For Honor, plain and simple. As Joe pointed out peer to peer is far from ideal, "advanced my arse" was a choice phrase used. Now we got 2x the Characters, Breach Game Mode, A whole now Faction which is included in those new characters, Arcade, Battle Pass, Arcade and more. They stripped the Gear Stats, War is still broken, etc

Getting this game, came back to see the review just before i get it.

WTF?! 60$ game with crippling pay-to-win microtransactions and they still can't afford dedicated servers? Where does the greed end?

Xqwzts it's not pay to win in any of the good modes. 4v4 is a shit show anyways and you can just button mash to win a 3v1, in brawls and duels there's no stats on your gear so it's totally balanced

IT IS NOT PAY TO WIN, yes there are microtransactions but it isn't like it just gives you stuff. And those stats only count on one or two of the game modes. If you don't like that then play a different game mode

Servers are STILL shit, The newest characters Mira and Jackal have OP guns and the hotfix they released had to have another hotfix 2 days later only fixing one of the mirriad bugs like for example people leaving a ranked match and causing the enemy team to not get points for a win.

Watching this again, because of ps plus. That intro basically sums up the entire game all the way down too were the dude kept spamming laugh emote.

I played this game about half a year ago, it’s so much fun! Though I’m still back in forth between Siege and some triple A story based game more than any other multiplayer

I feel Ubisoft really got lazy when they brought the Samurai into the story. Vikings: "Hey, these knight guys have been kicking our ass and now we're finally united.......! LETS FUCK WITH THE SAMURAI CAUSE THEY HAVEN'T DONE SHIT!"

Samuraiedge2 Thats exactly why. The knights kicked our asses. we are hungry and low on resources. but whats this? samurai crates? looks full they seem to be well off. lets raid them. While the samurai after the attack, apollyon showed her hand. And showed the samurai the reason for the Vikings attack since their appearance and Disappearance during a viking raid was not coincidental. They even acknowledged this. The vikings are not the true enemy, its the knights.
