Alex Ferguson, Liverpool's nemesis. It's a pity from Liverpool's point of view that he moved to United. But credit where it's due, he truly was a great manager with Aberdeen and United. A word for McLean also, he and Ferguson where true great managers for their time.

One great programme about one great year. Hopefully one day the "New Firm" will come good again but you'd need inspirational managers like Alex & Jim and players of the calibre of McLeish, Miller, Strachan, Hegarty, Narey & Sturrock. Unlkely -- but we always live in hope, and remember those great times.

My mum was from Aberdeen and even though I was born and raised in Portsmouth I was an Aberdeen fan too. What Ferguson did for the Dons he needs a statue at Pittodrie or at the new ground (if it gets built).

My only issue with this video is that they put celtic in with rangers as being conquered by fergie and McLean when in fact the opposite was true. Celtic won 4 league titles while fergie was at Aberdeen. Sure the dons and utd won a lot of trophies but it was rangers who truly fell into decline in that period. Having said all that I pine.for those days to return to scottish football. Utd and aberdeen were magnificent sides and regularly won trophies and beat celtic and rangers home or away. A true rival at that time. In fact the aura around aberdeen even after ferguson left the club in 1986 stayed with them for several more years until aberdeens decline in the mid 90s,such was the mark ferguson made in the North East. These days scottish football is so boring and predictable.

I remember this like it was yesterday. Although a united supporter it was great to see the glasgow stranglehold over scottish football starting to slip. Scotlands great shame on display for all to see. Sadly its never changed :( great sound tracks as well ;)

Fergie worked his ticket to leave the Buddies absolutely no doubt.

Stuart Cosgrove only shows with his closing remarks that his personal animus towards the Old Firm goes way beyond the sectarian divide and duopoly both clubs are deemed to embody i.e. he wants them both to no longer exist. This sort of inverted snobbery is always at the heart of those for whom democracy engenders some very unpalatable realities that they dismiss as a dictatorship of the majority.
