Steve Sidwell was a great story actually, he recently spoke about it on a podcast, and how it was basically a power play by Jose that if the club werent going to get him a proper striker then it would just have to go to Sidwell. His friends and family couldnt believe it lol

Grosics Gyula had his number 1 retired at Ferencvarosi but he's never played for them. He just casually signed a contract at the age of 82 and hungarian team decided to retire his number. A guy from Aberdeen has a number 0 retired even though it's banned now But pretty much a guaranteed one for that category is someone who passed away too soon like Sala (Nantes) or had some serious injury like Nouri (Ajax)

Messi should've been a retired kit number but sadly Spain rules are very strict with first team registered players having to wear the numbers between 1-25 so retiring a number would basically mean 1 less player every season.

I think it was some Russian or Ukrainian team dnipro for europa league runners up. Only know this cuz they’re literally no longer a club and we’re in a final in the 2010s
