Dude has had some good sketches so far. Not this one though. He's a top notch impressionist but he did zero of grudens famous mannerisms. It wasn't even a Gruden impression. He just basically played a dude in raiders gear. Gruden is a great target for an impressionist so idk why he didn't try to do his voice or famous looks/skowls and verbiage

There was a lot of support for Levar Burton to host (including from myself), but ultimately Mayim Bialik has been chosen as the new host (but apparently Ken Jennings will also be taking hosting duties for part of the year). So in some sense, many view Burton as having been snubbed by Bialik for the position.

Keenan went from riding the pine to passable. All of his stuff fell flat for well over 10 seasons. The only reason he has had a job with SNL in the first place was because all the decent black guys get a show or get promoted and do films. Keenan was just lucky that Kel Mitchell blew his audition. That guy had more potential at the time.

I feel like all impressions he does are going to be really similar. In this sketch he looked a lot like he was doing his Biden impression. I don't think he has much range, but I guess we'll see, maybe he'll prove me wrong. An Owen Wilson impression would be awesome to see though.

I love those rare occasions when any of the Weekend Update crew get screen time. It's *so* unusual, though, it always makes me wonder if there was an emergency, or a particularly strong resemblance, or something, some kind of extra-compelling set of circumstances, that only Jost, in this case, was perfect for.

Casting James Austin Johnson was one of the smartest decisions SNL has ever made.

I agree. I grew up on Kenan bc I used to watch All That and Kenan & Kel reruns when I was young. I like some character work he does but a lot of his impressions sound too similar to each other.

@@theoutlook55 Well, I'm pretty sure there are more black coaches, but those two are the only current black HEAD coaches as of today (and I don't think Brian Flores is gonna last seeing the Dolphins season has gone to shit now.) Other minorities are represented among head coaches as well, Robert Saleh (San Francisco) is Arab by descent and Ron Rivera (Washington) is Hispanic. But yes, the 28 other head coaches are white.

Just a reminder that Washington cheerleaders were recorded without consent wearing nothing but bikini bottoms for the purpose of the video's distribution among the higher execs. The fact that there were cheerleaders, along with women who worked in the Washington organization and faced sexual discrimination, who were brave enough to sue the Washington Football Team and the league is the main reason we even have access to these emails. I get that the pick-me cheerleader is a well-known bit, but the truth is cheerleaders are some of the only good guys in this story.

Several points: 1. The Johnson kid who played Gruden is pretty good. For a new guy, he’s been fantastic. 2. Man, Pete has grown so much as a performer. He used to be pretty useless in sketches, and mainly a weekend update/musical parody performer, and the sketches he was in he would break. But as time has gone on he’s gotten better and better. 3. Andrew Dismukes is growing on me.
