I think you can substitute the food colour with turmeric it gives a nice golden colour and it's also beneficial to the body.🙂

I always use tumeric but never noticed it can be food color at the same time,,thanks much

At home we always used gram flower mixed with all purpose flower, some turmeric, chilies and Dania and never food coloring!

Turmeric has a weird taste though.Don't work for everybody.

We at the coast we use gram flour and not wheat flour. The taste is different and the batter doesn't suck in to much oil. Try using half wheat and half gram flour.
