I once ate lots of organic vegetables. I became very ill with fatty liver, fibromyalgia, and all the other hashimoto's symptoms flared. Long story short, after 6 months of a modified carnivore helped the most.

This information is great for anyone that doesn’t have celiac or NCGS or any food sensitivities. Many of us who get autoimmune have triggers- some listed in your foods to eat. Also, many of us have gut health issues. The AIP diet is a great place to start, but avoids all nuts and seeds, also no rice/quinoa/nightshades/legumes.

Thank you Dr. Gupta. It's very scary to find out I have an underactive thyroid, but it explains all the symptons I was having. I had watched videos that said no almonds, berries, and broccoli, etc. So it's good to know that I can eat these foods. I just need to exclude dairy, gluten, and sugar. Thank you so much!

This video is incredibly useful, I am pescatarian and when I heard about all the things you can't eat with hashimotos, which were products I ate often like pasta and bread, I feared that the diet would be difficult to follow as someone who does not eat meat. But I'm glad to see there's still plenty of options. Videos like these are underrated, a fairly simple solution for a disease that can be complicated to deal with.

Thank you for this explanation. Thank you Doctor. Back in 2018, my Thyroid levels came out a little off on my annual physical, saw an endocrinologist who said I had Hyperthyroidism graves disease that DID NOT need treatment but all thyroid tests T3 T4 Blood tests & ultrasounds have been in normal ranges and still are. Now new Endo did a new antibody for the thyroid peroxidase test and found that I am at 165 out of 0-34 normal range and think I may have Hashimoto. But said it's nothing to worry about still , he's seen patients in the 1300s. I said well I don't want to get there so it needs treatment but nothing is being done. Now I have puffy face (eyes, tongue, lips, nose), sometimes arms and legs, neck, tired , anxiety, muscle pain. I am doing a fruit fasting and avoiding all fry foods, gluten, sugar, etc ..

When you shop in the grocery store most of the healthy foods are against the 4 walls. Foods in the isles are usually not good for you. I buy minimal things fron the inside isles. Just coffee, raw honey and sunflower butter in place of peanut butter. My symptoms have lessened so much! Random fact hope it helps someone. Hashimotos can make life difficult. ❤ Thanks doc for your helpful info. It's been a change but diet is everything!

I noticed that all the starches we simple carbohydrates so all breads we grouped together with refined sugars like pancake syrup. There are healthier forms with in the food groups and then there are moderation and total abstinence as options. All grains are not equal unless they are all refined and all the good stuff is taken out. Fats that are still in the original plant source are different that after they have been refined into oil. Something are never healthy and should never be used. So there is a scale of choice from terrible to better, from better to best with never as an option. Then there are things that were once good for us but are no longer a healthy option. Staying healthy or becoming healthier is largely a matter of choice, so choose the best.

I am loving your videos, you are an angel. 🙏 Functional medicine is the only way... Question: Worried about losing too much weight on AIP and the "low-carb" but trying it out, I don't feel like I'm getting enough calories, and I am naturally thin too begin with and tend to lose weight easily. I am plant-based (a vegetarian nearly all my life, and many years plant-based). What should I incorporate to gain/maintain healthy weight, already cutting out oats, beans, grains but still eating chia, flax, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, avocados and coconut (milks/creams). I was thinking of sweet potatoes, but they are nightshades... what about plantains too or almond butter (they are nuts), reincorporate legumes/beans? Thank you for letting us know quinoa is okay, but what about Teff grain. I'm at a loss. You are a dear, I may even be consulting with you soon. But first I am hoping I can find a doctor willing to work with me.
