So I live in South Dakota near the Iowa, and Nebraska border and we had a bunch of flooding a couple weeks ago and now we are struggling with mosquitoes and all of the stores are sold out of bug spray and anti itch stuff. It’s not food related but people should stock up on this especially areas where the hurricane was and areas with recent flooding.

Just a suggestion. Stock up on the sticky fly ribbon/tape rolls that have the thumbtacks in them to hang them with. They catch a lot of insects with little effort and are dirt cheap. Easier to use than sprays though sprays are good to have too.

I am now too worn out to even try. I wish people would stop telling people to plant or die, or plant something small on their window sill. Purina dog food is the one to watch for a lot of recalls on that food along with Hill's science diet...ect Yes bioengineer food, processed junk food.. candy soda carbohydrates. The US food out there is killing you. Cancer, diabetes, I issues issues, high cholesterol...ect Also couldn't believe how much sugar is in the soda total of 78 grams of sugar in one can of regular Coca-Cola 😮 You notice everything now is sugar free we never had any of this years ago in the 70s.. I concur on Purina. My GSD was fed PurinaOne since she was an older pup. At 5 yrs of age, numerous vet visits, medications wasn't working for issues she had developed. Long story short the last 2 yrs I took her completely off ALL dry kibble and put her on a turkey/chicken/beef liver/ckn gizzards/veggies/rice/eggs diet. One would not believe the change in her. No more vet bills/medications. And yes, frozen turkeys(Meijer when I can find them at .49cents a lb) and 10 lb bags of chicken thighs/drumsticks for $7.99(Kroger) is CHEAP compared to what one pays for commercially produced crap.

They said when they were taking me to recovery they would stop by a window to show me. I can tell you I will NEVER forget seeing a tree bent completely over with it's top touching the ground!!!! My husband said he still finds it super comical when he saw some Canadian geese trying to fly but they were going backwards 😂😂😂 Amazingly, the hospital didn't lose power and have to use their generators until we were in our room. I see people worrying about water in cars. A little knowledge from Florida. In Florida, we carry water in our cars for different reasons, emergency, stuck 4 hrs on the expressway, car problem and my favorite, washing sand off my feet. 😅 When you need emergency water plastics are the last thing you worry about. You also change the water out every few weeks, rotation is key in any prep. UF here in Gainesville did a study and left 20 brands of water in heat of 158* for several weeks. Only 1 brand showed trace amounts of bpa in it, so its not a big deal. The one thing you should NOT do is open water, drink from it, recap and drink at a later time. Risk of bacteria can grow in temps from 40 - 140* so never do that.

Okay, so I'm not a "real" coffee drinker as I like it with cream and sugar, or so I've been told. As a further blaspheme I started last year reusing my coffee grounds. Before you say "BLEGH," let me explain. I make 16 oz of drip coffee, somethimes ADC and other times with a Drip-o-lator (look them up, no filter required, but you can use one if want.) My ration is 1 gram of coffee to 1 ounce of water (yeah, I know I'm mixing measurements but it works.) After I do that I make a 2nd pot with another 16 ounces of water reusing the grounds. For this 2nd cup I add 2 level Tbsp of Swiss Miss (I used to use a packet which is 39g, but now get a loose container and 2 lvl Tbsp is about 20g or half a pouch) and a heaping tsp of sugar. I'll tell you, just the coffee alone isn't good and Swiss Miss isn't that good of a hot chocolate but this makes a very nice drink and extends supplies. Give it a try and I promise if you aren't a "real" coffee drinker you'll like it and it is a great way to reduce how much hot chocolate mix you need. Doing this I can make 32 oz of 'hot chocolate' for what Swiss Miss says should make one 6-8 oz cup or over FOUR times the amount. EDIT: I forgot, but when using a whole pouch of Swiss Miss I didn't add the sugar. I only found needed it when reduced the amount of chocolate.

LAYS, Oreos, Pringles, Ritz - the brands I grew up with which I NO LONGER buy because I started paying more attention to the label and it's stating their foods have bio-engineered ingredients. Who knows how long we been kept in the dark but nevertheless, we should reconsider what we put into our bodies as who knows what it will do to us over the long run which also means more health issues and higher medical bills even possibly. Friends, stock up on better quality stuff. Yes it's pricier but it's always good to know what we put into our bodies as our health is important.
