As a rising high school senior, my parents, teachers, and friends have been throwing suggestions at me all summer of what they think I should do with my life after high school. Naturally with all the suggestions, I was having doubts about perusing culinary arts. However this is something I've wanted to do since my freshman year, after watching this video there's no longer a doubt in my mind that this is the profession for me, and more so that the Culinary Institute of America is where I belong.

I've been wanting to be a chef ever since I was about 3 years old, I went to see the CIA on a tour,and even though I am only 13 I plan to go there one day!

ditto I enjoyed it since I was 4 and im 12 now and I even cook meals for my brother and sister. I can even cook spaghetti. pleasant tasting spaghetti.

Awesome professionals. Great environment. Are there any chances that I can eat their dish? I can't wait. Someone,please come to Japan and cook Japanese cuisine. Then I will fly to the place!

I have been cooking my whole life and being accepted to become a student at the culinary arts institute of America would mean I was meant to be here . The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step . I am in process of applying you dont know until you try . I was invited to the campus for an assessment test and only that ,just being there means the world to me if I dont get accepted that doesn't mean you have to give up on your dreams

So… how’d it go?

You will need at least 6 months experience in a restaurant that makes 80% of their dishes by scratch. Graduate high school and get an intern position in a restaurant to show you what it's like. It's hard work and require passion and dedication.

@CIANetwork I currently work in a chain restaurant and was wondering if that qualifies as a professional kitchen? It's not like McDonalds. We cut our own vegetables, cook our own pasta and dishes are made to order, etc.

some day I wish to be a professional chef and hope that people will love my cooking. ive loved cooking since I was 4 and I always help and or make dinner. I took cooking classes back in 2011 and wish to try it in cooking class for middle school and tech school then try out for my local culinary school and get experience in a kitchen then apply here. hard goal but not if you love doing it :D

Yes. You need six month expereince in a profession kitchen. However, you can start your application while you are getting that experience.

just enrolled for the year 2015 in the winter that way i can continue with my criminology before going here :)

My dream! I love to cook! I'm only 16 but if I can get a scholarship or the money to pay tuition I would LOVE LOVE LOVE! to get my bachelor's degree from this college!
