    Hey Lawrence, I've been coming back to your channel regularly over the past 6-12 months, especially since the tragic death of Taylor Hawkins 💔 Are you still playing? Your great covers have all the more meaning now 🙏🏻 Your explanation of your recording setup in a comment is still one of the best out there. You said you might do a more detailed video about your process - is there any possibility of that happening soon? Or even if you could post links to all the cables and extensions you used here, in the description, that would really help with visualising how it all fits together. I've been trying for a while now to emulate what you do, but I'm still not quite there in terms of the cables etc. All best!

    For anyone struggling with Cablegeddon, I hope this helps: I finally nailed it, with a 3.5 mm headphone splitter cable (TRS type, into the OUTPUT socket of the T1-DMK drum module) and a 5 m long 3.5 mm jack cable (also TRS). I use an iRig 2 into a Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet recording into the built-in camera. From the iRig2, I take a normal guitar cable into one socket of the splitter (using a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter). From the other half of the splitter I can take the 5 m cable to a small acoustic amp (using a 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch cable adapter) or I can just insert my headphones cable instead (but this only gives audio in my left ear). Alternatively you can use a small amp and plug your headphones into the amp, which gives sound in both ears but a mono signal (depending on your amp perhaps). The iRig2 still records in stereo. I use a normal short 3.5 mm cable into the MIX IN socket of drum module to play the song from my iPod nano. Hit record on the tablet then play the song and your rolling. Man, you really have to know your audio cables to do this stuff!

Also are your headphones hearing the music too while playing this? If so is the music also connected to bluetooth and its recording and streaming music at the same time? Holy Smokes. Best drum cover of this song I've seen. Absolutely nailed it. You have a really crisp technique. Great footwork mate 👍 I'm thinking of buying a TD1-DMK to record my drum covers, but I'm not quite sure how it's done with the limited input slots on that module. How did you record this? Did you use an Irig? If so, how did you set it up to get both the audio from the song and drum module AND use the phones camera at the same time. It's the only thing stopping me from buying this cool little kit. Could you possibly reply with a quick set up guide?

    blakefish80 Ok. So I did use an iRig. I use a 3.5mm splitter in the phones jack on the drum module. My headphones go in one socket, the iRig in another. Well... actually to get the distance between the camera and the kit, I put a 10m 3.5mm jack to jack extension, that then goes into the iRig, that then went into my iPad on which I filmed the video. My iPhone goes into the aux input into the drum module and that’s what played the music.... hope that clear?! A few people have asked a similar question so I might post a video up in the next couple of days showing it in detail. It sounds complicated, but it’s actually really simple. The iRig is great for this sort of thing. Effortless!

    @@lawrenceclarkdrumcovers4534 ahh man, thanks so much for the in depth instructions. Makes total sense now. One device to provide the music audio into the module, then irig and headphones running through a splitter. Makes all kinds of sense that does mate. I'm thinking of starting my own drum covers channel (mostly indie rock stuff), but I haven't touched a kit in a decade, so I'm incredibly rusty. I'll be sure to give you a sub And learn from your technique. You've got great natural timing and groove there bud. I'll get there one day. Keep it up man, lots of love from rainy Manchester 👍

    @lawrenceclarkdrumcovers4534

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey! Thanks for the comment. Yeah intend to listen to it and figure it out by ear, but for more complex tracks sometimes I’ll see if someone has written a chart which is available on line to see how they interpreted it. As for enough pieces, well that’s always a question. For stuff like Foo Fighters you can cover it with a standard four piece kit with a couple of crash cymbals. If you’re after playing some Rush tracks then you’re going to have to come up with a compromise that sounds good to the ear. Or spend a vast sum of money. Or not cover them!

    As an owner of both Roland & Alesis kits, I definitely think the Nitro Mesh is better in almost all ways. Just buy your own high quality sticks & kick drum pedal, cause the ones it comes with are beyond garbage. The standard Nitro Mesh might not have the greatest preprogrammed sets, but I have like 5 sets I made myself & you can adjust everything. Sensitivity of the drum, volume, tuning, the specific type of drum obviously, etc. Really can make nearly any drumset you want with it.

    The Northern Renegade Hi! Good question. These were only released about 18 months? ago so unless it’s been absolutely abused, it should be in a good condition. Mine has had pretty much daily use from both me and my son (occasionally by daughter too!) and the heads are almost as new still. There are stick marks on the cymbals but you’d expect that on the rubber trigger areas. I’d just try it before you buy. Make sure the drum module is clean, and all the modes work. Cycle through each setting and try every drum. Make sure the cymbals choke ok, and make sure the hi hat pedal works as it’s supposed to i.e. the sound variations you can get as you release the pedal and the hats get ‘looser’. Make sure the frame doesn’t look like it’s been abused too much, and give the wires coming from the module a good check over for kinks, nicks and breaks. Check out some of the official Roland videos so you know what functions you should expect. That’ll give you more of an idea of exactly what to look for. Other than that, it’s a great kit! Good luck!

    Hi Rob! Thanks for the kind comments mate, much appreciated! Truthfully, I've never compared with the 07-KV. In my opinion the TD1-DMK rubber kick pad is a little loud, especially when you're going for it. It's definitely the most obtrusive sounding pad on the kit that's for sure! I did try a VAD-506 recently and that's honestly a lot quieter all round but I suppose that's because there's more 'give' where the bass drum beater strikes the pad.

Also added the CY-12c to it with the cymbal boom as well. I am not a drummer. I'm a guitarist. But I wanted a real kit to use with ez drummer 2 instead of trying to play complete song beats with my fingers on the keyboard. Quick question. I read you got another CY-5 cymbal. Is there a way to adjust the pitch in the TD1 module so that both crash cymbals arent the same pitch? Whats the point of having 2x crash cymbals if they are the same pitch?

    Utkarsh Srivastava thanks so much for the kind comments! Yes the kick pad on the TD1-DMK does support the use of a double pedal, but I’ve not tried it yet. It can be quite noisy... The thudding of the pads can be quite loud when really going for it, but it's obviously waaaay quieter than an acoustic kit. Really depends on your situation: Do you live in a flat or an apartment? If so the people under you are going to get a hammering from the kick drum pad...
