I was introduced to this song bc of yt back in 2019. Though I wasn’t much of a rock n roll kid, this song just spoke to me. I told my dad who had stage 4 terminal cancer, that this was my favorite song. He was so happy that I had an interest in his genre and that he knew this song. Sadly he past away July 4th, but this song makes me happy bc I got to see my dad smile after I told him this was my favorite song.

It had been raining during the night but the dark clouds are gone and the sky is clear and sun is just rising. I've been struggling with a marijuana addiction and tbh this song helps me calm down whenever I wanna relapse again and again. Through sheer enjoyment of life, a great relationship/fling, any person could have written these lyrics. They’re impactful, uplifting, and insanely depressing at the same time. Everyone tries to console people with “it gets better”, but it truly doesn’t. There are highs and lows, but nothing will ever be as good as your best memories. It doesn’t get better, you just get used to it and learn better how to face it & deal with it. Some things will get you high again, but you’ll never really feel the highs of youth again. That’s obviously very depressing from one angle but beautiful from another, bc you know that millions of young people are experiencing those moments right now, with no worry of death or decline. We will move forward, despite our triumphs & subsequent losses. We will never forget that one that got away, no matter how happy or angry we are at where they ended up. We will forever live through our past, which will be forgotten someday, and replaced with new life’s cherished present and loves. It’s beautiful, and gives at least a tiny bit of comfort & optimism, as we barrel towards our ends.
